If I had to sum up Norms in a single sentence it is that it is a big step above Denny's. The first time I went to Norms was today (Jan 2nd) I went in expecting Denny's but better, and that is exactly what I left thinking. I went in with a party of 6 and it took a bit longer than what I would expect for us to be seated. A number of parties of 3 or 4 who got in after us, were being seated fairly quickly. It also took a bit longer than I expected for our food to come out. Not too long, just long enough for me to notice. Atmosphere - The atmosphere was very lively inside. I really enjoy the diner-like atmosphere that they have where I can hear everything going on in the kitchen and with the servers. It really keeps the restaurant from being plain and dull. Service - Our server was very good, his name was Joe. He was very friendly, very polite, and very professional. He was very quick to get our drinks and condiments out. Food - I ordered the $9.99 NY Steak and Eggs and Biscuit and Gravy. I asked for the steak medium-rare. It came out almost well done. There was not a shade of pink. I would normally send something like that back, but I was way too hungry. My steak was not dry (to my surprise) and it was a pretty flavorful steak. The hash browns came out a bit under done to my liking. I enjoy a little extra crisp. The Biscuits and Gravy were surprisingly light yet hearty. I was expecting a really dense biscuit. The gravy was a bit heavy on the pepper, I personally enjoy a strong pepper taste. The pancakes were also very light and tasty. Again, something I was not expecting. I finished all my food and was completely full, but I found myself still picking off of the other's plates. All in all, Norms is a very good place to come grab a bite and for a cheap price. I would definitely go back again. Kind of sad that I only decided to try it now. TL;DR - Lively Atmosphere. Very professional service. Bit slow at times. Tasty food. Surprisingly light pancakes and biscuits. CHEAP

Having spent the day as guests of "the mouse" it was a relief to get enough food to fill the Matterhorn ride for the price I'd paid for 3 adults and a kids meal inside the park. Great waitress, attentive even to the son's and my picky friends requests to substitute. Then came the deluge of soup, salad and appetizers. Wing sauce on the tenders , real stuff but chicken barely heated. Soup was a bean soup that was on the salty side but really close to being great, ate half of this which equals a bowl at a normal restaurant. Entrées were similarly hit and miss. E.g, some great parts ,some not so great but came out on the winning side once it was averaged out. It's a fair price and in the context of late-night eating just being open and having this range and not being a Denny's ( T F it's not a Denny's:) ) it gets the extra star.

If you went up to a drunk person and asked him to describe what heaven is like, most likely they'd reply "Norms!" Okay that may be stretching it a bit but seriously Norms is like the mecca where drunk people go at night, and with good reason. The main reason why Norms is awesome is because of the value of what your getting. Craving breakfast? Well you can get a Sirloin Steak & Eggs that comes with hashbrowns, and pancakes or toast for about $7.99! I'm more of a dinner guy, so I'd get the New York Steak & Eggs that comes with potato (mashed/fries/or baked), a side of steamed veggies, salad, and soup all for $10.99! That's enough food to last you until 3 in the afternoon the next day and this is speaking from multiple experiences. Tips: -the deciding factor for me if I'm getting breakfast or dinner depends on the soup of the day. If its chicken gumbo, I'm definitely having dinner. Whatever they put in there, it works! -I recommend the Caesar Salad. They put so much dressing and so much cheese that I declare Norms to have THE best Caesar salad in town. -so no matter what you want breakfast right? Okay well instead of pancakes or toast, check out their biscuits and gravy. The gravy is BOMB just by itself!! -If you're getting steak, make sure to ask for a side of "au jus" sauce. If you don't know what that is, it's basically the beef drippings so it serves as a dipping sauce for the meat. So many of my friends have become believers from this. I even have a friend that drinks out of the bowl when he's all done with his meal. True story. In the end, it's not Le Courdon Bleu but man it's good and its cheap and you'll knock out like a baby.

Food reminded me of home.... aka Michigan. large portions and yummy. Great for now.. considering i'm 7 months pregnant! As for when my diet resumes... I'll have to pass, unless it's a treat maybe once a month

My family went to this Norms location today for lunch after a morning hike. We were super hungry and ready to eat! When we arrived there at around 1pm, it was pretty crowded, but luckily we were seated fairly quickly. To drink, my dad got coffee, while my mom, sister and I got Cokes. To eat, my parents each had the $9.99 steak special (which came with dessert!), my sister got the Filet Mignon with Prawns ($15.99), and I got the breakfast special ($8.99). The food here tasted pretty good, but the service was a bit slow, and it seemed like the staff was a bit overwhelmed with the large number of customers at that time. For example, my sister raised her hand as our waitress walked by, intending to ask for some pepper (which was missing from our table along with syrup), and the waitress, sounding stressed, quickly said "Your soup will be out shortly." After we had finished our food and were sitting there for a while, we asked for the check, and then our waitress said "Oh, you get desserts too, I'll go get it." We ended up taking the desserts to-go along with some leftovers. Overall, I would say it was an okay dining experience, but the service could have been a little better today.

First of all, Norms isn't a bad place to eat. Their steak and shrimp and chicken tender dinner, which comes with a salad, soup, and desert is only 9.99! However, I had a horrible experience at this particular Norms in Huntington Beach. Me and my 4 friends, who are all asian ( and were the only minorities in the joint) , got seated in the corner by the manager ( a white lady ). She wasn't friendly at all. We waited at our table for 20 minutes and got no service at all, didn't even ask us if we wanted water, even though she walked by our table multiple times and saw that we didn't have anything on our table. A couple of white guys walk in ( they must have came from a KISS concert, because their faces were painted like them ), and the same manager lady seats them and takes their drink orders right away. She even brings them their drinks herself within 30 seconds. Angry at this, our group got up and left and complained that we didn't get any service. She didnt even look at us and kept her head down, no apologies... nothin. So that was my vent on this norms. i'm not saying the whole place is racist, but it sure seemed like that lady was. So if u guys decide to eat here and see an older, curly haired, white lady with glasses and looks like shes the manager, tell her a group of asian kids said "@#$ YOU!!!" thanks.

You're average diner, but less than mediocre service. Food was cold. Fries were soggy. We repetitively asked our server for water and napkins and didn't get them until the end. Thanks Norm's, I'm just gonna stick to Denny's.

Their motto should be "you get what you pay for." Their bigger better breakfast is a good deal. The problem is the inconsistency. The quality is never the same two visits in a row. Never go for dinner so can't comment on that but, the patty melt I had for lunch was good but greasy. So if you visit just keep in mind my motto.

Id rather be at IHOP or Dennys.

$8.99 for soup, salad, steak, friend shrimp, and a side of potatoes. What more can you ask for? Everything on the menu is very affordable. It's not fine dining, but it sure is inexpensive. Just don't come with a big crowd late at night, not unless you want to wait for hours to get served.

I like this branch better than the Costa Mesa's but I find myself at the Costa Mesa branch more often because of where I go for when I go out with friends. Plus it's cleaner. But I can't say that Norms CM doesn't work hard on maintaining cleanliness because they attract so many patrons at ALL times of the day. If only I find myself with more friends in HB Hahaha. One thing I'd like to note is that the chiken Ceasar salad portion here is HUGE. I dunno why it's the first thing I noticed when the meal was delivered to me. this particular Norms also has these frames that I find pleasing to the eye. The one in particular in the center of the back wall I'd like to think was tastefully and strategically placed.

Came here on a random day with my friends because we wanted to try something new. The place seemed like a nice place to eat and hang out with friends, it wasn't until the waitress started to call me "mijo" and "amigo" where it started to go downhill. First of all, any place that serves me tap water, will automatically lose a couple stars with me. Secondly when we ordered, the waitress rushed up, telling us to hurry up and give her the menus back so that she can go on to the next table, we definitely did not feel welcomed. Finally our food came out and I have to say, i was really disappointed. Don't be expecting a big piece of steak because you will not get it. I was fooled by the image on the menu. I know.. stupid me. But i was really expecting a bigger steak than what i got. But for 8 bucks it seemed like a good deal. Hash-browns were not good, seemed soggy and was not crispy at all. really disappointed in that. The pancakes were a hit and miss for us. I liked the pancakes but a few of my friends did not care for them. Eggs were good, but how hard can it be to cook sunny side up eggs right. Overall, a good price for a steak and eggs breakfast, probably not going to find a better deal on a meal like that. But you do get what you pay for, so do not expect a great quality beef, or water in our case. Probably wont come back but who knows, I'm down to try anything twice.

Had horrible service. It took forever just to get a drink order and to receive it. When we finally got our drinks the cups were all wet like if they had just washed and the orange juice was extremely water down. Also it took another 30 minutes just to place our order and I waitress only came by once just to drop they check off. Never going there again.

Great food. Most of the staff is friendly. I really freakin love "andres" he is an awesome funny and polite server! Give him a raise! Other than that pretty average.

I must be getting to that age, but ,I like norms! The sunrise serenade hits the spot for me. I had that and a free blueberry crepes today! Fast service, nice people!

For some reason I used to think this was a furniture store. Anyway, just typing things in this box so I can add it to my 24hr list, anything I have to say has probably already been said before and more eloquently by someone else. hurf durf.

For the large portions at a fair price, I won't complaint....that much. That place is actually not that bad. Compared to Denny's, this place is like a five star restaurant. If you never been here before, they offer than same dishes as a Denny's and iHop. Their offer huge portions, for the same price as Denny's or iHop. We had a party of four and only one of us finished the food they ordered. I'll admit, the food here is a little on the greasy side. We had an order of garlic fries that were drenched with oil. We discovered a pool of oil right underneath the garlic fries which made it practically inedible. What I really liked were the pancakes. They are almost as good as ones from iHop. And they're huge! We went there at midnight, and we were actually offered pretty decent service. For the amount of food they give you for the price, I would come here again if I feel like my arteries could take it. Don't forget, They Never Close! Vegetarian Friendly? 4 out of 10 Had a few items for vegetarians.

Oh, Norm's. I'm not really sure why one bothers talking about the food at a place that most people only go when they're drunk or high. Under those conditions, it's easy to think even Denny's is good. But I like Norm's better than Denny's. It's riddled with old people and underage high school kids bored on a Friday night, but for some reason, Norm's is not as goody-two-shoes as Denny's and I'd like to think that this is where cops and strippers alike hang out in the wee hours of the night. Or maybe I'm just being romantic. What can I say? I think eating here feels like eating at the buffet in one of Las Vegas's downtown casinos. Old-time charm, interesting characters, slightly dirty silverware, and dinner deals that seem so amazing when you get them (a whole steak dinner AND desert for only $10!) but that usually tends to turn out to be slightly unsavory. However, you're embarrassed because you eat it anyway and somehow it tastes good in all of its poor quality. That's Norm's. The steak is fatty, the strawberry shortcake comes with strawberry sauce, ice cream, AND whipped cream, and the french fries with ranch sauce are hot and comforting. You can eat a four-course meal here for well under $15 and feel smug and satisfied just like your grandparents might. Norm's smacks of the good old days and the possibility for great night-time memories to be made. Good ol' Americana personified in a friendly So-Cal diner chain. Mmm.

    awesome late night drunk food.

  • Allan N.

Better than Denny's. Omelettes are pretty good; scrambled eggs no. Open on holidays and late at night.

  • Tran C.

bad service; the waiters are no where in sight, food just like any other american place like denny,

    (1)
  • Jay S.

Through our economic downfall, price dominates quality and though the food may not always be of the best quality, you can't beat being open 24 hours a day, every day. The service there is sometimes up to par with other local restaurants (ie BJ, TGIF etc.) some people just have a bad day and know their tip is gonna pay that price. The food is definitely better than Dennys, IHOP, and Shorehouse. My friends and I have hectic schedules and I am glad theres a food place open 24 hours to accommodate us.

    (4)
  • Grace N.

gross, unsatisfying diner food just like denny's or ihop. good for a late night place to eat at if you're hungry. i had steak and eggs breakfast here once and the steak tasted like rubber

  • Tila M.

Norm's is ONLY good if you're looking for something open 24 hours, or drunk. this place is right across the street from my house, and always filled with a ton of old people. its quite dirty inside, and the waitresses are all your stereotypical crabby old ladies that sound like they've been smoking for about 40 years, and smell like they just smoked right before they walked over to your table. they could care less about customer service, and the waitresses are openly rude to the cooks that work in the back [although they are fairly nice to the customers] ive been here a million times, and never walked out really satisfied [and yes, satisfied and just full are 2 different things] one time, i got pancakes, and they were literally RAW in the middle...pure batter...i told the waitress, who told me it wasn't 'her fault, she was just the waitress' and then INSISTED on bringing me more even though we had already pretty much finished our food and i told her i didn't want new ones. i probably will return here at some point, but more out of necessity than actually liking it. The only thing going for this place is that its SUPER cheap, and better than Denny's or Ihop

    (2)
  • John S.

The service at this Norms is consistently worse than the service at, say, the Whittier location. The food's the same, but good service is what makes (some) Norms(es) better than just a chain restaurant.

    (2)
  • Brianna V.

oh Norms, how do you make your ranch dressing soo wattery yet sooo tasty, please can I buy a bottle of the stuff

I have to agree with others about the value. Tonight I was in the mood to Yelp and needed a place to review. Tired of the Mom & Pop places and haven't been to Norm's in ages, so off I went to Norm's to write this. My Yelp ethic is I have to go and write. I cannot write review on memories of past visits to places. Anyway, Norm's. I like that it is 24 hours and has counter seats for those just wanting coffee. I am seated a booth and ordered the $8.99 special on the sign. Steak, shrimp, baked potato with corn on the side and soup AND salad with a dinner roll. It's really a good deal. The steak was pretty good and the shrimp were delicious. The salad was fresh and crisp and the soup was spicy Cajun Gumbo, which turned out to be really good. For the price, I think this deal would be hard to beat and then you can add a desert for only $1. Honestly was impressed. Avery good deal for sure. It's my new favorite local diner. =0)

Ordered the steak breakfast special.meat tasted bad.Eggs were runny and the hashbrowns were cold. The waiter told me it was probably the tenderizer.I told him tenderizer on bad meat is still bad meat.My friends meat was chewy. He did offer to give me something else.Should have compted the meal.No offer to refill our drinks after that.he was too busy yapping in spanish with the other 4 people who didnt seem to care about thier customers either. We go to the Norms in Torrance and always get better treatment and better quality food.Is there no managment?? Or pride in the cook or servers here anymore?I relize its only Norms but Buisness is Buisness.Guess Dennys is looking better now!!

    (1)
  • Derek N.

Norms get 5 stars for the price and quality of their food. I actually like Norms because it's not big on your pocket and it sure makes you full. I had the bigger better breakfast before and I think it's better than Denny's and IHOPs. For some reason the hotcakes here does not make me want to throw up after I eat it and I can actually finish all 3 hotcakes. I like the special they always offer at $9.99 where you get soup, salad, entree with steak and shrimp + potato, and a strawberry a la mode for desert. Taste might not be as great as the fancier restaurants but for this price it's as good as it gets. Since it's open 24/7, if you get stuck in the early hours with no restaurants to go eat I would recommend Norms.

I prefer this place over Dennys. Im use to dennys as my random eating place but Norm's is much better then Dennys and much more worth the money! I enjoyed the omelettes and biscuits and gravy...but all i eat is breakfast so idk how everything else is. But people seem to like eating the steak dinner.

walking in what the hell sat down. in the corner waiting waiting waiting10 minute, 20 minutes damn it now 30 minutes sitting their waiting for the waitress to come by to take our order and i had to call them over to take our order 30 minutes later food come out blah. people who came in after us got there food and finished before we even to got to ordered lol.

  • Jay L.

Wait is forever. They bring out soup but not salad. The salad came out 20 mins later. It's been a good 45 mins and still no food. The server doesn't even make eye contact with our table. Thank you for reminding me why I hate norms so bad. I won't be coming back to this shit hole.

  • Ethan T.

One of the better, yet still typical American style diners. There's really nothing wrong with it but there's also really nothing great about it that would ever make me want to go back. We did however tell our water that we were in a rush and he made everything happen extra quick! Needless to say that man earned a good tip. Their prices are also generally so low that I am slightly disgusted.. Just a pet hate of mine.

  • Ivan U.

I love the food from norms! They're always open and always full 9 bomb food. I love food lol! The servers are really good but the bus boys are sometimes terrible. That's why I give 4 stars lol. If you go to the one in anaheim the service is a hit or miss lol but the food is great!

Being nocturnal and all, I have to look for 24hr spots. One of my favorite diners and I can always go for the bigger, better breakfast that's only $5.99! Perfect for a post workout meal. Breakfast is great anytime of the day. Only con may be that my order would come out wrong sometimes.

  • Dom C.

We switched from Denny's to Norm's. The food is much better tasting. They give plenty of food. I love their steaks. The price reasonable, too!

  • Matt A.

Even if you aren't partial to '24 hr. diner' style places, they just started serving something I thought was really special: Garlic Parmesan Fries. Regular fries slathered with a mixture of garlic (raw I think), shaved parmesan cheese, & chopped parsley. Sounds bizarre but ZOUNDS, how yummy! A little oily, not for sissies, you better love garlic, garlic, and more garlic. Follow it with a Rolaids& a breath mint though! Also love their signature T-Bone steak dinner. No gourmet stuff, just the basics done right (especially if you get the munchies at 2:00 am)

Price + taste and excellent service... really never been served a horrible meal here... their rival Dennys is not as good ...

I love this place! My boyfriend lost his wallet yesterday and we thought we had it with us after we paid. Last night we called Norms and the lady said that there was no lost wallet. But today, my boyfriend thought it would be a good idea to call and check again. When I called a lady picked up and told us that the manager, Ramon, was on the way to drop it off. I knew this was a bad idea since my boyfriend moved houses, so I asked the lady to call the manager for me. Some minutes later, Ramon called me and asked me to describe the wallet and everything. Luckily, we weren't that far away from each other and we met up. My boyfriend & I thanked him for being such a great manager for going through the trouble of giving us the wallet. Not only is this place a wonderful place to eat at, but this place has good service. There wouldn't be good service if there wasn't a great manager:D

Love this place! Food is always great , always fast and the waitresses will remember you. If you want to eat better than Dennys quality food at better prices 24 hours a day...try NORMS! They rock!!!!

  • Michelle N.

Eat your heart out! No, seriously. If you're going to eat here, eat your own heart. Fatty deliciousness is what I came here for. I got most of the fat and some of the delicious. Norms, your quality in food has gone down significantly since the last time I paid visit. Boyfriend and I had the "Big Breakfast". I substituted my pancakes for biscuits n gravy. Big mistake. The biscuit came out very mushy, the gravy with too much pepper. Blah. The hash browns weren't crunchy, but not soggy. The bacon wasn't crunchy!! However, the sausages were delicious. That was my little bit of deliciousness.

FYI: This review is only for breakfast. I first want to compliment the management on hiring such a terrific staff. My wife and I have had multiple servers there and they have all been great. They are friendly, helpful, and efficient. I do want to give a HUGE shout-out to our favorite server Carlos. He is probably the best server we have ever had. His enthusiasm and friendliness, and attention to our needs is amazing. I have been to a lot of different kinds of restaurants and never have seen such consistency in service. We have ordered many items from the breakfast menu and everything has been very good. Our favorite is the turkey patty and eggs. I believe it is only on special during the week. We would love to see it on the regular menu.

I just had a breakfast there and sadly I won't be going back. The people there are rude, I'll give credit to the host for being the only one to be respectful but our waitress hardly came around and when we had to pay the girl at the register wasn't friendly, had attitude and messed up the way we were going to pay. I don't recommend this norms at all.

Food was ok, waiter smelled like he just smoked a pack of cigarettes. He also could stop looking down my shirt in front of my husband and kids. It wasn't even low cut. Bathroom was disgusting.

I always thought of Norms as the "Late night desserts post drinking" place to go when hanging out with college friends. The brownies were always really dry, and the ice cream not great, but when you're drunkenly craving dessert at 2 am, and you don't mind some of the seedier characters of the night, this always seemed like a great choice. Like Dennys....only more stuck in the cracked out 80s. Apparently not the case in Orange County. Their breakfast was quite good. The pancakes taste like the ones mom used to make, & hot chocolate that's actually creamy! What a concept! The steak and eggs was pretty good, to boot. Had a nice time and great service even on a busy Sunday. I would definitely eat here again.

Our waitress was wonderful! Very attentive and friendly. She gave us enough time to look over the menu without us having to twiddle our thumbs as we wait for her to come back to take our order. I ordered the patty melt with onion rings. Patty melt was decent, but the patty was a little dry and not seasoned enough. I felt the urge to dip my patty melt into some sort of sauce just to get some moisture and flavor. The onion rings, on the other hand, were excellent! Just the right amount of onion and batter/bread, and fried to perfection. On a side note, this place gets pretty crowded on weekend mornings around brunch time. The hostess was very nice and welcoming but seemed to struggle with taking down party sizes and checking people out. Overall, a great place to get some breakfast/lunch/dinner on your way to the beach.

Norm's Restaurant, 16572 Beach Blvd, Huntington Beach, CA 92647 (714) 841-1919 I cannot say enough about this Norm's location. I grew up going to Norms, and as kids we always looked forward to having breakfast or dinner there. During the 80s/90s, in my opinion, the quality of food at Norms deteriorated with mediocre steaks, and a boring menu. Because Norms is open 24 hours, 4 years ago, I gave them a try, and was I impressed ! The quality of food is excellant for this class of family restaurant, and even rivals many chain restaurants, ie Marie Callendars, Mimis, Hof's Hut. Although, they do not have as many entrees as the above mentioned chain restaurants, what they do have stands on it's own, and considering they are open 24 hours, who can complain? The meals are extremely inexpensive for the quality of food and the amount of extras (soup AND salad) that go with their entrees. Breakfast also offers filet mignon for a very low price. Their garlic mash are homemade not from a box. They will also cook special requests if they have the ingredients. I ask for grilled cod fish , and it is not on the menu, they do a beautiful job. Their entrees were $9.99 (3 yrs ago) now average $12.99 to $14.99. This is for filet mignon and centercut marinated for 2 days thick pork chops ! Go there AND ENJOY ! Thank you vm Kitcat-007

Norm's can make you forget for a short while that you are in Orange County, and instead takes you back to that little town in the Midwest that serves the Food of the Common Folk at prices that the common folk can actually afford. Norm's has been a neighborhood fixture for God know how long--at least the '70s judging by the interior style and condition. It's my belief that they've stayed in business for so long mainly on the strength of 1. being open 24 hours 2. being inexpensive, and 3. having a strange, mezmerizing hold over the senior population of Huntington Beach. Norm's is classic American diner food. It's the kind of place that has side salads of mostly iceburg lettuce with a few strips of cabbage and carrot shavings, motherly waitresses that call you "hon", and actually features liver and onions on the dinner menu. You can get a t-bone steak here that's not bad, (and also not very large) and probably the lowest-priced t-bone steak you'll find in HB. Mmm, steak with a side of baked potato, coffee, and apple pie a la mode for dessert-about 20 bucks if memory serves. My kids have always enjoyed Norm's for breakfast; in fact, if they had their druthers, they'd eat pancakes and waffles here for lunch and dinner. You can actually do that at Norm's...not that I have ever let them...okay maybe once or twice. But I swear we're all going on that tofu and broccoli diet, just as soon as we finish our brownies with ice cream. You betcha. For your best lunch bet, stick with burgers at Norm's. Certain menu items (fried shrimp, chicken strips, and chicken breasts) are certainly premade, frozen, reheated-in-a-toaster-oven fare. The rest of the menu is standard, unremarkable, and basic 3 star stuff. The burgers I'd rate 3 and 1/2 stars, maybe 4 on a good day. It's hard to go wrong with burgers at an American diner.

Went to Norms for dinner for the first time. I am a big fan of their hugh breakfast selections. I was greeted promptly by Yvonne and my order for baby back ribs was taken. Dinner was a full rack with baked potato and freshly made cole slaw. I had the gumbo soup that was loaded with chicken, served hot and was very good. A crisp salad was also served composed of romaine and lettuce with delicious ceasar dressing. All the employees were in clean uniforms. Floor supervisor was present and doing his job well. Music level was right where it should be. Bathrooms were clean as well as the parking lot. I came home with a half of a rack of ribs and half of my baker as well as the rolls that I couldn't finish. I am a big guy so you know you won't get cheated on portions. The full rack was $12.99! A deal that can't be beat. I will be back for more. Thanks Norms

Inexpensive late night food that are in large portions but very bland for my taste. We prob end up here about once a year from some type of club event. Their breakfast skillets are much less greasy than Denny's which is a plus for me.

This is the place to go if you want something better than fast food, but you still want something thats casual and inexpensive. The staff has aways been very polite and competent. They've never messed up my order, and I dont recall ever having to wait too long to get my meal either. The food is quite good for cafe standards, better than Denny's in my opinion. The selection is very solid. It's nice that you can always count on it being open. Someday i'll be one of those senior citizens you see a lot of if you ever go there in the morning. Protip: The Norms website always has a $2 off coupon for you to print out. I use it when I do pickup orders. I get a steak and eggs dinner for the same price as a meal at El Pollo Loco. Can't complain!

Classic- Place for breakfast 24/7 at rock bottom prices. Food: Always check for their specials, some times they have really awesome deals like 5.99 for steak and eggs. Though I believe they use grade D meat it still a deal in this town One negative is the water they serve reeks of Tap Water. Ever heard of a water filter? I like this place for breakfast around 1AM. Norms- After the club it's either breakfast or lovin'. For me it's usually just breakfast.

Underwhelmed. Regret not going to Denny's across the street. Food isn't great and the seats are uncomfortable.

Reviewing this place is like reviewing a Denny's. I mean, what did I really expect? Anyway, we went there with a large party- 7 people. Ordered 2 sets of appetizers (both of which I couldn't eat. I'm on a low carb diet). So I digress. I am only going to review on my food and the service. When we walked in the greeter/seater lady had a sour 'i hate my job' face on. She sourly led us to our seat. We ordered and the food took FOREVER to come out. I ordered the California burger + bacon wrapped in lettuce. They brought it out w/o bacon on it. I sent it back and what they brought me was the worst burger I have ever eaten in my entire life. It was so dry that the meat literally crumbled when I was cutting it apart. But it took so long for the dang food to come out that I didn't dare send it back again. Needless to say, won't be goin' to Norm's again. Boo. Oh, P.S. I kept it at 2 stars instead of one 'cause our server was nice and the prices are cheap. You get what you pay for, right???

I love diners. Norm's is fantastic! The coffee is hot and taste great and everything I order off the menu meets or exceeds my standards for the cost!

Just your standard diner food, but with excellent customer service :) Thank you ladies! It doesn't hurt that they are open 24 hours too. It would be great for a late night meal if you were in the area.

I used to frequent this Norms a lot for their $5.99 bigger better breakfast, but recently I went and their portions have shrunk in size. The ham isn't as big anymore and the hashbrowns aren't as crispy. Speaking of their hashbrowns I guess to make up for the crispyness they randomly have plastic crap in there :( I was eating it and ate the big piece of plastic. Called the waitress over and she just made some bs excuse that sometimes when they open the bag the hashbrowns are in, the plastic falls inside. Ok that's nice, but you don't even say sorry you just make a bs excuse and don't even offer to comp that meal! At least they can cook eggs correctly here. Their omelettes & waffles are still good, but other than that I think I'll be going to the Norms in costa mesa on harbor!

Love norms prices, wait staff, and consistency in food. Always a good place to satisfy late night home cooking munchies In a town full of all night taco bells and Carl juniors. I'm from the east coast and miss Waffle House. This is the closest thing to it. Denny's is good too.

I didn't enjoy this place---in fact, my "steak and eggs" entree choice nearly clogged my arteries and left me feeling like I should have opted for the salad entree. My friends wanted to go here and I wasn't driving...so I sort of got dragged into coming here BUT came with an open mind. Service was EXCELLENT though...worthy of an extra star. However, my steak was a small chunk of meat. Eggs tasty extra buttery---yuck! Hash browns tasted like they had been left out for too long....chewy and not with the crispy edge I'm used to. Pancakes also tasted like butter. DO pass on their blueberry syrup and stick with the original if you insist on eating their pancakes. I *will* give them props for their veggie omelet (my friend ordered it). Although it was swimming in cheese, it was really tasty.

Timing is everything. Lately I am hungry all the time. 8 PM Monday and I need to eat and I need to eat now. Fortunately I had the senior waitress and they had something I liked on the menu. A bowl of chilli took the edge off my hunger. However the big slice of warm fresh Dutch apple pie put down those hunger pains. The hot tea selected for me was a great choice. The only negative part of this visit was the hostess. She did nothing, and just let me sit at the counter while she watched. A glass of water sure would have been nice. Another server took my money at the register, as the hostess was nowhere to be found.

If its really late at night and you need a place to go. You can count on Norms. It is open 24hrs. This place provides you large portions and for the price of $10 on their specialty menu, you get soup and salad plus your main dish.

I've been here plenty of times in my lifetime. They always have specials on their menu, but even if they didn't, everything is still very inexpensive. I always eat breakfast when I come here whether its 9am or 9pm. They have delicious breakfast: pancakes, hash browns, biscuits & gravy, you name it. They are open 24 hours a day so its a great place to go when you've been partying & drinking with your friends. Get your fat kid on at this place. yum yum yum

Welcome to the romantic hotspot of Surf City! If you want to get to know that new special someone for the first time in a safe and comfy atmosphere then this is where it's at. This location is so easy to find, right on the main drag Beach Boulevard just North of Warner. Parking is not usually a problem. There is ample cushy seating in the waiting area, although there have been a couple food rush hours where we did have to stand in line. (yes I am a repeat offender..ooops, I mean attender at this particular Norms!). If you do have to wait for a table there are also those cute vending machines to grab the stuffed funny toy that you can never grab! The Hostess and wait staff are always curteous and seem so busy that one almost feels guilty asking for anything. At least these folks actually work for their tips, you just gotta be fast to get their attention. The menu is all Americana and they have dinner deals that I dare anyone to beat. Just don't expect the food to be designer dogs or upscale pudding, it's all just basic basic...did I mention basic food??? I always get a salad as either the side or entree and just wish they would drain all the water they wash the veg in as it washes out my dressing (which I order on the side). I had a soggy salad!. Whatever soup you order there will be freshly made in house so if you are one who is particular about ingredients or have dietary concerns that is a good thing to know in my book. There was a listing in the menu of a soup/salad and dessert combo for $6.99 which the waiter did not call to my attention when I ordered soup and salad...was he saving his boss a few bucks??? I think it would have been nice... no wait a minute, he should have called the deal to my attention.... was that a red flag? Did I really need the dessert? Maybe he was doing me a favor, or implying I did not NEED the dessert...gosh! Last night my dining partner ordered the salisbury steak which came with green beans, mashed taters and gravy.... portions very generous... no distinctive aroma one way or the other. He ate all the steak and left most of the mashed taters. He at the green beans but they did not look friendly to me, and y'all know there is nothing worse than un-friendly looking green beans! When I asked him how his meal was the response was 'alright'... no afterglow involved. Bottom line, been there many times over the years and will undoubtedly be back again and again.... after all it is still a romantic spot after almost 20 years.

my husband and I just live down the street, unfortunately he doesn't get off work until midnight, too late for me to cook up anything for him at that time, so we decided to walk to "Norms" they welcomed us as soon as we walked in and seated us right away, the server took our drink order and was very nice, he gave us some time to look over the menu, my husband got the lumberjack with French toast and was amazed, I got myself an original American burger with fries, we walked out of there full and satisfied!! Were starting to come here at least one a week best part of it is, it's open 24/7 so we can go at anytime of the day(:

Usually, I eat the bigger better breakfast, which I love but tonight I had the grilled salmon with french fries. The french fries took up 90% of the plate...The salmon was the size of my hand and seems to have been dipped and soaked in butter. Was not soft and chewy, it was the exact opposite. I couldn't even finish it half way and lost my appetite and didn't eat anything else. I think the sever's name was Billy, he asked if I liked the salmon and I said no and all he did was walk away. Like wtf, what kind of service is this? I know this is a mediocre place but working in the food industry, service is highly important. I am never going to get seafood from here ever again. YUCK!

Rachel is the BEST SERVER EVER!!! I would recommend going to Norm's just because she is the most wonderful server of them all. so 5 stars for rachel!!!! Also - i am a big fan of their shrimp, spinach and avocado salad with pesto basil dressing.

We went here for Thanksgiving dinner. We were seated almost immediately. It was $10.99 a person which is pretty good for a holiday. Service wasn't great-our server left for the day and no one really took over for him. The food was really good! Everything was tasty! Even the pumpkin pie! And it was enough food for two meals easily and I love left-overs.

This is a good Norms. There are always hearty portions and friendly service. I have run into some problems here. On some rare occasions, I have found bits of weird of things in the food. Other than that, it's a great place to eat. It's cheap and good eats. I recommend you come to this Norms. The thing with the Norms chain is that each one is somewhat different in quality, service, portion, and style. I know this could be said for a lot of chains, but it's more noticeable for them. I suggest the burgers, they're hearty and flavorful.

My wife and I picked up my Aunt Laura, 90 years old, to take her out to dinner. She wanted unfancy food. So we went to Norm's. She got exactly what she wanted. Nothing bad here, but nothing exceptional either. Good ice cream. I will go there again the next time I take my aunt out to eat. Ho hum.

We love Norm's , the amount of food you get and the quality of the food you get for the price, it's just GREAT !!!!!! I wish we had a Norm's in Ventura County. Everything is good and priced right, you just can't go wrong with Norm's for breakfast, lunch or dinner!!!! 2 thumb's up !!

I woke up really, really early this am and was very hungry and craving a good 'ol diner breakfast. So I drove to Norm's on Beach Blvd. at 5am while it was still dark out. First impression was that I could not even enter the place. NEGATIVE: A guy was vacuuming the entry way and did not see me standing there. Then he moved out of the way so I could enter, but the very loud vacuum noise was very annoying. But this is Norm's right?...they never close...so they have to clean at some point and 5am sounds about right. POSITIVE: This is the time to go if you want to avoid screaming kids. Only a couple other people in there, one waiter guy, one cook. I made sure to sit by the waiter station in the middle of the place so hopefully I could get out of there pretty quick, which I did. I had the $2 off coupon. I thought about ordering the Bigger, Better Breakfast for $5.99. ( $3.99 with coupon). But then I thought I better think about my gut and avoid the greasy bacon and sausage. Plus I hate hotcakes so I would not have touched those anyway. I opted for the regular Ham and Eggs instead. (Not the Ham STEAK and eggs but the regular Ham and eggs). The Ham was great and the best part of the meal (You really don't need the Ham STEAK as this slice was thick enough). Hash Browns were good. I was somewhat disappointed that my over easy eggs were not very hot and barely warm and watery, This was probably my own fault however as I ordered a side of salsa (no extra charge) but I think the salsa cooled my eggs. I will come here again, but with my coupon and tip it still came out $10 +. I think I should have stuck with water because I ordered a small milk and a small OJ and I think those beverages put it over the top. I will come back again...if anyone knows the best time to go, please let me know! Also, one of my fav sandwiches is the triple decker Clubhouse, and very few places seem to get it right. I want to try Norm's version soon...is it good?

I'm sorry but I had food poisoning from the gumbo soup. Me and my bf came here for Christmas day brunch because it was one of the few places open. We were given a fork with crusted wadded straw wrapper on the backside handle of my fork and a ice water with sugar on the bottom of it?!? Like their dishwasher guy wasn't doing his job right, or even putting dirty dishes on the clean rack... The waitress was nice but it was a hustled experience since we settled to eat at the bar. Ugh... not going to pay to eat a diarrhea-causing plate of food.... If I was Donald Trump, I'd say... you're fired.

I had the 7.99 sirloin steak and eggs meal last night at 2:00 AM after a night of partying. The service was superb but the food was okay. I asked for eggs over medium but I think they came out over easy. Just a minor detail, no biggie. What made me sad was the hash browns though. They're not as flavorful or crispy as I like my hash browns at like Denny's and whatnot. The steak was decent and the pancakes were good. Overall, its not a bad place. It gets the job done and is a nice alternative to the other late night diners (Denny's). From looking at the menu, there is a much more variety of options such as their entire bbq menu. I'll have to give the place a few more shots!

Norms is O.K. It is like dennys & ihop. I feel like I'm in a senior citizen home at night, because I think that is when old people come and eat with their 20% off discount. But in the afternoon it's fine. I really like their Garlic Parmesan fries. They are really goood!!!!!! Besides that everything else is alright, not bad. I also like that it's open 24 hours!!! Their motto is "WE NEVER CLOSE" but once I came and they were close!!!! lieeeees!! haha eh whatevers:) Service is usually great but when I went to eat today, the serviced sucked! All the employees were standing around doing nothing. When we tried to ask them for something, they just walk by and ignored us.

We order the habanero burger, newyork steak with eggs, and clubhouse sandwich. We had ask for onion rings and received fries. The bacon was super crunchy and nasty; it tasted like burnt chips. The soup was great but even though it was called spicy gumbo, it was not spicy one bit. Overall food was good but it's the service that killed it. It wasn't that busy but we received our food in about almost 30 minutes. When we asked for extra napkins, we never received until we were about done. Our waters were not refilled and you can see the wait staff just standing around talking to each other. We were also rushed out and out bill was just thrown on the table with the napkins that was finally brought at the end. Not only that, we had to wait 10 minutes at the front just so we can pay our bill even though there was no wait. I have always loved Norms but next time, I'll go to me preferred Norms which is the one in Orange.

Food is good, and what's better, it's cheap! Where do you get good steak with eggs, hash, and pancakes for $5.99??? And our favorite waitress is Linsie. She's just so warm and accommodating. She makes everything extra special :) but when she's not there we don't even bother going :)

Man do I love Norms. I used to eat at the one in Santa Monica over 40 years ago. Look, you will not live a healthy lifestyle eating at norms. However, when I am craving the Bigger Better Breakfast it does not matter. I only eat here when I am craving. I really like the variety in menue and you can get breakfast 7-24. I don't bring dates here when I first meet them but I like Norms for a long time.

Ive been to Norms in Costa Mesa which I can say is the best one out there. Went to this Norms last week and it was horrible! Manager brought out my food and hash brown were burnt! what kind of manager brings out food that look and tastes disgusting! Service was horrible, the chick didnt bring us the right drinks from the start, was rude about returning our food, and was in a hurry to get us out. never coming back to this restuarant.

We were moving out of Orange County, and sold our fridge a week too soon so we were eating out a lot. We ended up going to Norms one night, and I ordered a filet mignon with mushrooms, baked potato, salad, and soup with a side of veggies all for 14.00, and it came with an 8 oz steak. It was no steak house for sure, but tasted like what I could have made at home. We ended up going back 3 more times that week, and the only thing I didn't like was the beef portabello sandwich, it had NO flavor. Service is always fast, and friendly and everything is pretty clean.

This location in Huntington Beach is by far the best location I have been too. Great friendly staff, food is always prepared just the way I asked for and very clean. I strongly believe Norms has the best prices around.....whether you are out and about, looking for a great place to eat with a huge variety of food offerings, or just coming out of a bar at 2 am - This is the place to eat. Instead of driving 3 miles to the local location here in Downey, I will drive out to this location in Huntington Beach to eat.....they just do everything right and the food is always prepared to my request. I have been to others and this location takes the cake. Pricing is right and when you are on a budget, it all counts, and Norms has Value and great food all packed into one for a GREAT VALUE!

This place gets 4 stars for several reasons: 1) I love a good 24 hour place to go because I don't get hungry only 3 times a day 2) great for when I can't decide what I feel like eating, and because breakfast is always a winner in my book and 3) cheap, relatively good food, decent portions and 4) can't say it enough, I love breakfast foods! Although they do have a very decent selection of other things too. I like their patty melt, burgers, soups and salads. I've never tried their pastas or seafood items though, I just think it would be kind of shady, ordering food that seems to only be there to bulk up the menu and not because they can cook it any better than an Italian or seafood place. 5) I really love the uber casual atmosphere. Hint: I think it helps to be a low maintenance sort of diner, cuz after your food is brought out, your waiter will only check on you once or twice after that, and most likely only to bring you your bill. So ration out your water, and make sure to ask for all the condiments before the food arrives. Bill for two entrees comes out to about $27. Private lot for parking, and usually no difficulty finding a spot. I'd stick to the breakfast items, or the burgers/sandwiches.

(soup, salad) Steak & Shrimp & Chicken Fingers (Desert) $10.99! Alright they were racist the first time we went here b/c we didn't get any service. That lady isn't there anymore so it's OK, it's alright... Let me ask you something. What can you get for $10.99? Anything, food, clothes, service, anything... Because here, you get the FULL MONTE. This place goes HARD on the plates. For $10.99 (+tip you cheap bastards), you get: 1) a salad 2) a soup 3) Steak 4) Shrimp 5) Chicken Fingers 6) Desert! Take a moment to digest what I just typed...I can't even get a pair of boxer briefs for that price. Mind you, the food ain't that tasty but it isn't really bad either. If you're drunk as a mofo late at night, and you want you're money to stretch the mile, roll over with the homies and grab some...

I have been here twice. On different occasions. The first time was when I was younger, the food was really blah. nothing was good. The second time I came here it was late at night. They had nothing. I wanted like mashed potatoes, they didn't have any. I wanted veggies

    (1)
  • Erick A.

Service = 4 Star Food = 2 Star The food was very disappointing! I ordered NY Steak and eggs. The eggs were raw and the pancakes were bitter. My wife ordered country fried steak and the gravy was so watery! The mashed potatoes looked like they were mixed with water instead of milk. Overall the food quality was very sloppy and seemed like it was half-assed. You're better off paying extra at Denny's or IHOP. We won't be coming back here anytime soon!

I've been going here for years. In my high school days, this used to be the last stop before heading home after a midnight cruise through the canyons. Now it's the last stop after a drunken night on the town. Food: Way cheaper then Denny's, better tasting, and bigger portions. They always have specials all the time. I usually go for the steak & eggs specials. Remember, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, even at 3AM!

It was packed. Usually a great sign that food or portions were good. In which i will admit that price was cheap and portions were excellent. Now- onto the review, it was monday morning memorial day weekend.we expected it to be somewhat busy. Time to get seated less than 5 minutes. Greeted ..staff was real friendly. 1 star there. Food was less than appealing. Potatoes were dried up and very flavor-less! Maybe they were out of salt that day-who knows. The menu had waaaay tooooo many options to choose from making for a frustrating first experience. I asked the waitress for an opinion she said "yes they are awesome!" It was double potato hashbrowns with pancakes. The potatoes were suppose to have green onion of which i never saw. The hashbrowns were burnt beyond recognition. I thought they were suppose to be like that. I didnt know any better. Half way through my meal, guess what i see in my food? Yup! The itsy bitsy spider... i hurriedly told our waitress and she saw it too and she said "OH shi*" her look of shock was worth a million bucks! She took off my meal and wifes meal but still charged us for my kids - kids meal. Which they got off cheap, i might add. Service was good but food sucked. I would try again just to give them another shot. But only if they comped all 4 us in our family. Respectfully, Little miss tuffet

Norm's just kills it when it comes to lots of good food for next to nothing! Did you just get kicked out of the bar, leave the club, or wake up from a drunken stupor at 2am? Are you STARVING now and you MUST EAT TONS OF FOOD???? Yeah, you know what I'm talking about! Norm's is your destination. Where else can you get Chicken, Shrimp, Steak, Fries, soup, and salad, and dessert all for $9.95??? Nowhere! This place has a great menu, an amazing staff (Andreas is the best waiter by far!), and cheap cheap cheap specials. Favorites include the Bigger Better Breakfast with all bacon, the Avo-Gobble Sandwich, and the Trio Platter. To tell you the truth, I think that the hidden reason I like this place so much is that their eggs actually taste like eggs and not artificial crap in a bucket like Denny's. In any case, it's good grub. Enjoy!

Oh my my! Why oh whyyyy did you have to be bad?! The first time I get to go to Norms in yearssss and I literally mean YEARS....sayyyy 10 years?? And it was a BAD experience. Okay, I guess I won't exaggerate because our waiter was nice, but the food was just COLD. I mean they were brought out pretty quick for a table of 11 people but the food was COLD?? What does that say?? Ekk!!! All I can say is that I am never returning here again! BLEHH!!!!!

Came here on a Friday afternoon. Wasn't crowded and it seemed like they never have a line or people waiting for long, which was nice. Our first server was really nice and served my boyfriend and I really quickly. Our second server (first one was on break/shift ended) was eh. He didn't seemed interested in keeping us satisfied and we weren't checked up on a lot. I don't like that there's no condiments on the table and that you have to ask for it. The foods we ordered were the green chile and chicken quesadilla and the steak and eggs breakfast thing. Both were disappointing, especially the quesadilla. It was super dry and flavorless. The chips it came with were extremely stale and the salsa was extremely watery. May be someone else's cup of tea, but not mine. My boyfriend told me that the hashbrowns were soggy and the steak that he ordered as medium rare ended up being well done. French fries were okay, but could use a bit more crisp in my opinion. Overall an okay place to go to eat. It has good deals for the size of the platter, which you can never go wrong with. This place is also opened 24/7.

It's Norm's. What can I say? The good news is that the service was, for the most part, prompt and my server was nice. Also, I liked the chicken noodle soup...it's different than the norm- no pun intended. Heh. The reason for the 3 stars is that this location advertises free wifi, but the wifi didn't work most of the time....which btw is the only reason I went there.

A Bush League runner-up to Denny's. Just as large of a menu but with cheaper prices...sounds like Afterlife, right? Wrong. Service is reminiscent of that one terrible antique auction you attended with mother. Busy with lots of hand waving and waiting to see if they'll recognize your cries for service. Food was decent but quality control is all over the place. The girlfriend's veggie skillet was almost swimming in oil, likely due to the fact that the hash browns were undercooked the first time and then sent back. Though Norm's lacks in those above areas, they make it all up in value. For ~$8 I got a faaat beefy skillet with two pancakes. Roll the dice, pick something breakfast-y, and hope it comes out edible! Mwuahaha

not happy they removed the handicap parking to back.now they only have a total of 5 handicap none of them are up front..other restaurants nearby they are up front.

We have been long time patrons of the Norms here in Huntington Beach. Food is good for the price, however, like others on this site, we are appalled at the handicapped parking being moved to the back of the parking lot. This has got to be a violation of the ADA. When I looked it up, it states that a business must have a certain % of handicapped parking spaces, and it states that they will be close to the door. I don't know how far the ADA will go to enforce this, but we are calling the city, and the ADA on Monday morning to see what can be done. We spoke to the manager at Norms, who told us the city of HB told them to move the handicapped parking to the back of the lot. Where do they get these employees?

Favorite place to come when I have late night cravings, especially since it's open 24/7. Best deal is the t-bone steak with eggs (with your style of choice), hash browns, and hotcakes (or my preference, English muffins). Their hotcakes are bomb! My friends enjoy the Bigger, Better Breakfast though - and it's half the price of the t-bone steak. Service is not too bad at this location and food comes out quickly. Also, there is free wi-fi at this location. Just ask for the password!

Hostess is beyond atrocious. No smile, unpleasant and not friendly at all. Had a baby car seat, was offered a baby basket when I asked for a high chair. I said I'd prefer a high chair to flip over instead since the mesh net baskets topple over and are not safe. Hostess made a nasty face, smirked and walked off without saying anything. Not expecting much from Norms, but do not need someone to go out of their way to be rude. The server was great. Will not return ever due to the hostess.

Oh how much I love you Norms.. I always come here to get one of their affordable steak meals. I love me some red meat! The most recent trip I got the Steak and Eggs. I substituted the hash browns for a baked potato (+0.40) and got it with Pancakes. Oh and a glass of Mango Green Tea. I must say it is a VERY large meal for one person. I couldn't finish my pancakes or steak :( But it was good. Steak was a bit too rare for my taste, when I asked for it medium well so I had to eat around a bit. Eggs and baked potato were great. I like my eggs over hard and it was perfect. I must say though, the pancakes could use a little more work but I'm assuming you just use packaged pancake mix. I'd stick with IHOP if you're looking for decent pancakes. Last thing food related, the mango green tea tasted like water. I usually love me some green tea and anything mango flavored but man was I disappointed. I definitely won't be ordering these two things anymore. With all that said, I'll still be back :) See you soon Norms!

Food okay Service okay But...Really, a dog in the restaurant? Not everyone wants to eat next to your dog at dinner... Leave fido at home for the freaking hour it takes to eat your meal

I love Norms when I'm craving big hearty plates of pancakes and naughty foods! Service is always good and fast. I can never finish anything on my own as the portion sizes are bigger than I can manage. Diner food, nothing fancy. Family friendly.

Boyfriend and I walked in around 10:45 on a Monday. We knew it wasn't going to be busy but this is one of our favorite places to eat when we don't have anything to eat at home (or we're too lazy to cook). We were greeted right away and seated at a booth. Our server was Victoria and she was really nice. Of course, it was late so we didn't mind the fact that she seemed tired. She was attentive and asked us how we were doing many times but not too much that it was bothersome so we definitely appreciated that. Boyfriend got the New York Steak dinner and I got the Fisherman Wharf's platter, or combo idr the whole name but they were both delicious. Love the service and food here! We'll be back :)

Im sorry norms but i came here without any greeting by hostess. Maybe she is having a bad day but sorry i do not want to have a bad day because of her. Our server did make it up but please retrain your employee how to say hello and thank you. It is ridiculous.

I have been here twice while I was waiting to have some audio work done on my car at nearby Al & Eds. On the most recent occasion, I ordered the Bigger, Better Breakfast for $5.99. You receive two eggs, six pieces of bacon, hash browns and your choice of toast. I chose biscuits and gravy. The portions are large here, but there is nothing special about the food. However, the quality is better than Dennys: 3 Stars. The servers are always nice here. The Vietnamese waitress recommended the special to me last time as a better deal vs the regular menu. Ambiance is nothing special but the restrooms are clean: 3 Stars. I would not come out of my way to come here, but Norms does the trick when you are in the area. I would only come for breakfast though, not lunch or dinner (open 24 hours).

What a bad start this time. Once a month we come as my Bros like the pork chops. Tonight, 1 group ahead of us. We were told 10-15 min. I asked Mike if we could have water. I was six feet in front of him, he walked away (perhaps he didn't see me). Kaila came up, so I walked up to her and asked for the water, she said yes, walked away, came back with nothing, called the next group and seated them, walked to the back and came out with 2 high chairs, then back to her station. I'm sitting directly in front of her. She takes another name down. She calls us, she gives no eye contact, no mention of the water and she was not helpful or considerate when my brother requested not to be seated in front of the kitchen. She said it would be another 15 min to get another table (On a Sunday night?). So we took the noisy table. My seat faced the front desk and the whole time Kaila never smiled at anyone coming or going. That said, Lorraine, our waitress, was great! She was attentive, smiling and helpful. I hope she gets a job at another restaurant, she deserves it. As Norm's go. It's a Norm's.

  • Manny M.

This Norm's is our favorite local restaurant, my family and I typically go before church every Sunday like clockwork. The food quality is great and the prices are amazing. This visit on 11/2/2014 was marred by a specific server who didn't seem to want to be here or want to be helpful. No refills were offered, the check was slipped on the table unannounced, no genuine interaction and rolled his eyes when I asked before he took our drink order to have two separate checks. We've never had an experience like this before at this location so I don't want to be mean and give a really bad review because of it but I think t merits knocking off one star from the overall review. I'm looking forward to more great times here.

    (4)
  • Rene M.

Giving 2 stars because of the server Rene. The food was not that great. I wanted the sirloin but was talked into getting the special New York strip and shrimp. I ordered my steak medium rare but it was under cooked and not tender at all. The soup was good but the salad seemed old with a few drops of ranch dressing. If not for me having an upset stomach during that night I may have given more stars. Don't think I will go back to that norms.

"I'm'a let you finish, Denny's, but Norm's is the GREATEST late-night greasy-spoon dining joint of ALL TIME!!" "Squaw Bread?" "You want Squaw Bread?!?" They'll hook you up!! Listen, I have no IDEA what exactly Squaw Bread is, but I was there in the summer of 2000, and the server, Ben, misinterpreted what I think was a request for Iced Tea or Napkins, or something, as an inquiry re: "Squaw Bread." Who am I to deter the brilliant, breaded tastiness of this culinary delight? ... Not sure if we had the "Squaw Bread," but I'm sure that I've been to this particular Norm's MANY, many times, and I've almost always enjoyed it. Usually, I have been out way, way too late and its the only place open. My friends and colleagues (as well as my arch-enemies and nemeses) often visited this spot over the years. We also used to hit up the "Denny's" across the street from the Huntington Mall (currently Bella Terra), but - alas, the "Denny's" has closed. Once, when I was there with my friend, Shane, the waitress gave me a smirk or something, and I interpreted that as if she was "totally" into me!!! "So you're saying there's a chance!!!" In the parking lot later, a regaled a small throng of post-high-school compatriots, retelling the story of my brief encounter with the waitress, embellishing for their amusement, letting them know that she dug my "Nice dishware!!" .... Unbeknownst to me, the aforementioned waitress was just getting off of her shift, and she passed by just as I was including the reference to her fictitious self in my retelling of recently-completed events. WHY I was FICTITIOUSLY re-telling the story to people whom I'd just experienced the actual events with, I do not know - but lemme' tell ya' folks, it was quite the memorable yarn!! Suffice it to say, Norm's is the BEST THING that ever happened to me. I found love in a hopeless place. There were, however, no Yellow Diamonds in the Sky. But yeah. Yeah. Norm's is one of the best spots around. Especially when everything else is closed. ...

Ive been to this norm many times in my years living in the OC. I like it for those days where you really just want to grub and not too particular in what you want to eat. This isn't a bad thing. I have come for lunch and dinner but breakfast is probably my fave. The restaurant in fairly big and being that it's off of Huntington Beach blvd it gets pretty packed especially during breakfast. So my most recent trip to Norms was a result of all the Bigger Better Breakfast commercials on TV. Yes commercials do work on a persons psyche. Plus it was one of those last meals before I started on my low carb diet so it was a huge meal. French Toast ~ yelp.com/biz_photos/norm… I got it with scrambled eggs and sausage pattys. I luv a good french toast as it is one of my fave breakfast item. Their is pretty good. Nice big toast and with butter and syrup I was happy. Hash brown ~ yelp.com/biz_photos/norm… The French toast plate alone should have been enough but I wanted hash browns! Talk about carb loading right LOL! Well the Loaded Hash Browns comes topped with Cheddar Cheese, Bacon, Green Onion and diced Tomato. Yeah its a lot of food on a plate. So I know your wondering if I ate it all. You kidding me, hell no. It's waaaaay to much food. Seriously it was enough food to share with another person. I truly enjoyed it though! Eyes ~ Menu has lots of choices! Nose ~ Griddle is working overtimel!!! Ear ~ Hungry peeps talking! Mouth ~ Mmmm breakfast!!! Tummy ~ Whoa that was a lot of carbs!

Been here like a kajillion times.....so why not review it right? Love the fact that this place is really close and it never closes. The service is uber friendly and you can't go wrong with their breakfast menu! We ended up getting the Belgium waffles and the French toast plates.....totally hit the spot and there was more than enough to save for leftovers. Well if there were leftovers haha.....we totally scarfed it down like it was our last meal. Anyhoo come here and enjoy their hearty meals.......now!!! Jk try it. You won't be disappointed. =)

They get a four star waiting because of Tammy! Our server was the rude, uncaring, unsmiling, & extremely terrible server, Victoria A. Our for was undercooked, over cooked, we were treated poorly, given dirty looks & even dirtier glasses. I was ready to get up & leave! Finally, Tammy came by & made this visit (which was for my birthday) so much better. If you come here, AVOID Victoria A. & ask for Tammy!

I had to take my jeep in for service and this place is across the street. Normally I stop somewhere, pick up food, and eat my food at the dealership waiting room, but I was running late. On a Saturday this place was busy. Mostly families, with screaming kids, so I found refuge at the counter and the waitress suggested the Bigger better breakfast for $5.99 or Sirloin and eggs for $7.99. I wasn't in the mood for sausage, bacon or ham so I thought, how bad can the steak and eggs be? Flavor wise the steak was decent, but it came to me raw. I asked for rare and I know the difference between rare and raw. Fortunately I wasn't very hungry so I ate around the part that was more cooked. The eggs were a-ok.. but the hash browns were bland and cold. No salt, although crispy on the top, but bland and cold below. I honestly think Denny's does a better breakfast, and that hopefully says plenty. But for $8, I'll give my brekkie a C. I'll go to McD's before Norms again.

I've always went to other places to eat such as Denny's and what not and then after I ate at this particular restaurant I never came back to the other ones. The prices are super cheap 10$ for steak hash browns and eggs what more can you ask for. Quality I would say is comparable to these other restaurants but it's cheaper and they give you so much more. If you spend an extra dollar you can get the New York steak with a potatoe, and toast. Along with a soup and salad.

The only reason I insisted on eating at Norm's was I wanted breakfast and this place doesn't close. Our table was clean and it wasn't loud or busy which was nice. The server, Lorraine, was just the sweetest thing since Minnie Mouse and probably the only reason this restaurant got more than one star in my review. The food was bland and greasy and I felt a little off after leaving. All in all, probably not going to go here again.

    (2)
  • Matt N.

Addendum to my previous review: Ok guys. If you want great service, be sure to get Lorraine. She remembers what I like to eat and she gets me the damn A1 Steak Sauce when they have it around without me asking for it. She actually takes the time to look for the bottle! Makes me a happy camper. :D Love this gal and you will too!

Early bird special Steak and eggs and the Bigger Better Breakfast. 6.99 and 5.99 I believe. For that price and that much food you can't go wrong. So much food for two people so I suggest you share. Parking is plenty and staff is extremely nice. Thumbs up for breakfast

It started pretty ok. 30 to 45 min wait only ended up taking about 15 mins. The style of service was weird here. Server came by he didnt seem to speak much english but enough to get our order correct. Food came pretty quick the bacon was gross so were the eggs but the strawberry waffles were on point. After a couple bites the server dropped check. We go pay out and my daughter needed to use the bathroom which was locked shut for some reason and she ended up peeing her pants :/. Probably wont come back.

I've been coming to this place for years, for its cheap food and quick service. Today I went in and it was normal, pretty empty, normal for a Monday. Our server got to us and seemed very rushed and not very responsive. After taking our order he came back with the soup and salads and pretty much tossed everything on the table. While eating we realized that there was an error with our order we tried to flag down the waiter to correct it be he was nowhere to be found, I had to flag down a different waitress for help. At that point our waiter came and dropped off the food, like we thought, there was an error. We sent it back and when we got it back it still wasn't correct, he left the check as he dropped off the food and made us just feel rushed and unwelcome. Our server(Ben) let us know he was going home and someone else would be taking care of us. He will not be getting a tip, I will not be coming back for a while.

so we go in on a Saturday night with about 45 minutes before we have to pick up the kids. as we pass by the picture windows, we see lots of empty tables and booths, so we figure we can do this. the hostess takes my name and says it will be a few minutes. after 5 minutes or so, I ask about a table. she's not very nice. they have to clear tables, the servers are catching up, it will be a few more minutes. really? It's Saturday night, not rest time. sorry Norms, not gonna wait when you have tables open. you off the list. you can do better than that. maybe get a hostess who isn't angry.

I've been going to this particular location off and on for about 18 years now and the food tastes awesome. What I really like about best is their breakfast specials. I usually order the steak and egg with pancakes for under $8 and that's an awesome deal. And they prepare my steak to my preference which is medium rare. I don't like my steak overcooked. Everything on the plate is so fulfilling that I can honestly go throughout the day or night without eating. That's how much I enjoy having their breakfast special. They serve a lot more than how Denny's serve and it's much more worth it at Norm's. And about customer service, it's awesome. The staff are very friendly and know how to treat their customers. This is a restaurant I'll never grow tired of.

This is a good Norms - sometimes they are not so great, but this place has it all - quality food, good portions, fast service even when busy and clean building. Little annoying that the night manager sits an chats with employees instead of helping/serving when swamped like a good leader should, but she's the manager so I'm sure there nothing one can do to change that. The chicken strips with buffalo sauce really are a hidden gem on this menu. If your a wings fan, try this, you'll be addicted!

Norms over Dennys/iHop My "usual" = Sirloin Steak n Eggs ($6.99) with a side salad (with croutons and cheese) and soup (if it's clam chowder) The wait time varies by how packed they are and how many servers are on deck. They're usually short staffed during late night.

I have been coming here for years on graveyard shift. The staff is polite, attentive, and responsive. The food is always good and the coffee is hot. I do recommend a bathroom makeover, it is getting bad. I often judge a place by its bathroom and this one is getting yucky.

I've been here a hand full of times and every time I go it is usually after midnight. Their food is pretty good and affordable. It always seems to be busy whenever I go even when it is way past everyone's bedtime. I think this is the best place to eat when it is 2 in the morning and you've got the munchies after a long drinking session haha. Their staff is very friendly!

Just wanted to share with everyone that I absolutely love the Sirloin Steak here at Norms. I really love how tender and juicy it is compared to other sirloin steaks I've had. I eat here once a week for the past few months with my girlfriend and we just never get sick of it. the loaded hashbrowns are amazing especially when you ask for extra crispy hashbrowns. :) Great place to eat and beyond filling and delicious for the price. Very happy customer!

Wow. I've been to almost every Norms. This is by far the worst. Long wait, cold food & dirty table. There was a spoon under my table. Don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. Booooooooo!

halloween night & after catering to all the kids, it was on to Norm's for a late night dinner...being Halloween, the whole restaurant had the theme going down to the bus staff... decided to try their burger menu for the first time & ordered the mushroom swiss burger coupled that with onion rings & a side salad (a little roughage to help pass the burger, ahem)...burger was huge =) but small on flavor =( one of the few times I walked outta there disappointed "food wise"...dinner salad (crisp, leafy lettuce & croutons with ranch dressing) was real good... our server (Brianna) salvaged the dining experience with great service...on point, stopped by every few minutes to refresh our drinks & made sure everything was OK... 2 star rating based solely on the food tonight but not a deal breaker as I will still patronize this Norm's...

I have only ever had breakfast here and they have delicious French Toast and waffles! Food is moderately price and atmosphere is what you would expect from a diner. Patrons are mostly middle aged to older when I have been here. If I had to review them, solely on their coffee, I would give them one star! Horrible coffee, to say the least and they don't even offer iced coffee. I really can't understand how in this day and age, a restaurant doesn't know that people like iced coffee! Well doesn't matter, because if it was iced here, it would still taste like a water down ashtray.

Food was mediocre. The ribs were over cooked and dry. The filet mignon was nowhere near as tender as filet mignon should be. Fries were soggy. Clam chowder was bland, I hated the celery in it. Restroom is dirty. The server who served us (Lorraine) clearly hates us. I'm sorry if our party took 5 minutes before we order because it was our first time there. I also apologize because someone in our party doesn't speak English and you had to wait 5 seconds while I try to translate to her. Lorraine never smiled once while serving us. But for some odd reason she seemed way happier serving the other tables, smiling and talking to the other parties. Lorraine brought us water by slamming the cup on the table and brought us ranch by dropping the plate with the ranch cup on the table. At the end she wanted us to leave so badly that she slapped the bill on the table. All this was done without ever saying a word. She did not ask us if we wanted something else or if we would like some dessert, and did not even tell us that "This is the bill." She didn't even stick around long enough after bringing us something for us to say "Thank you". We took the hint. Lorraine didn't want to serve us and Norms didn't want us there. First time and also the last time. Believe me when I say at McDonald's people who bring you food are nicer than my waitress at Norms. If I could give them negative stars, I would.

WHO WOULD MICROWAVE THEIR BURGERS THESE DAYS ?!?!? Ugh Norm's has always been disappointing. I don't know why my friends like this place so much. I don't see any positive factors in this place besides the fact that it's open 24/7...but isn't that with every fast food places now? My friends would always want to come here after the club or after a night of partying. Yeah you get a lot of food for the price but the quality of the food SUCKS. The last time I was there I had their cheeseburger; the burger was WARM...not HOT when it came out. The meat patty was obviously microwaved since it wasn't tender and juicy and hot. The fries were HORRENDOUS...they were soft and soggy and warm. DISGUSTING. My meal was so gross that I left it there and didn't take it to-go. I've had better GROSS burgers than this ! The service here though is pretty good. Gotta give them props for that. Other than that, I wouldn't come here unless I was dragged by my friends. This place has foods that make you want to shit after. Nothing's fresh. Nothing's cooked right. They're just depending on that microwave back there I guess.

You will never hear a complaint about Norm's come out of my mouth. This place is perfect! I do not expect gourmet anything from here, just good old fashioned service, great prices, and pretty decent food that leaves you and your wallet full. As a student, I like to look for good places to study and surprisingly, Norm's is at the top of my list. I usually get here around 6am, order a sunrise special (2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, 2 pancakes and hash browns for $3.99) and a coffee. They let me take up a full booth with all my study materials and stay as long as I want. My food comes out fast and the keep my coffee cup filled. This place is great!!! Just come before 9am to study because it gets busy after that.

I went here on Saturday morning. Thankfully there was nobody there to greet or seat me, so I had time to look at a menu and look around the resturant. There were dirty tables everywhere. I looked behind the counter towards the kitchen. The floor was filthy. I decided to leave. If you cannot keep your resturant clean, you should not be serving food to people. Clean your resturant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Midnight steak and eggs run rolling 40 deep done right on a Friday night. First time here and came in with expectations low. In finance this dining experience would be referred to as an "upside surprise". The steak wasn't filet mignon or anything but it was cooked right (medium rare), and came with toast, hash browns, and fruit for like 12 bucks. Another upside surprise was the competency and friendliness of the staff. Excellent service, especially considering the size of our party. And guess what? THEY NEVER CLOSE! A side note, I had another late night run the following night and went to Denny's where they totally Effed up my order. See, they forgot to cook my steak. Literally. I am not kidding they served me a frozen steak. They thought it was cooked but it wasn't even defrosted.

My Old Man was feeling nostalgic on our recent family vacation and wanted to go to Norm's just like when I was a little single digit aged rascal. As he described it the place hasn't changed since we used to go there regularly in the late 80's. My reaction to that comment was it probably hasn't changed much since the 70's, much less the 80's. But decor isn't its strong suit, its acceptable cheap food and quick dependable service. We went twice in a 5 day trip (variety is the spice of life right?) both times for dinner. But honestly, who cares what time it is because you can get the whole menu 24/7. The service was consistent and the meals came out quick and hot. I had the steak and eggs breakfast for some obscenely cheap price. Honestly it was really good for being sub 10 dollars and it came with pancakes and hash browns too. It was a lot of food. The second time we went, I wanted to class it up and I ordered the pork chop with garlic butter, potatoes, veggies and soup. Very classy meal indeed. The pork chop was a nice thick cut and when you top it with garlic butter what can go wrong (other than your waistline)? The veggies were blanched not really steamed all the way through. The soup serving was ample and hot. I don't remember the type of soup but I remember it was salty. I tasted one of my family member's soup the first trip and it was also very salty. Not bad, just salty. Its really a great place to grab a cheap consistently consistent meal in SoCal. Its neat that its a family owned, California locations only chain. In all these decades I'm sure there's been plenty of chances to sell out and obviously they didn't bite. So next time you need release from the exorbitant lifestyle of Orange County, stop by Norm's for a good meal and a step back in time.

Sirloin Steak and Eggs for $5.50?!!!! What a deal. You'll have to come 4am-9am for this deal though but way worth it. I get the Steak Medium with Over Medium Eggs and instead of pancakes, I substitute those for Country Biscuits over Gravy. Yum Yum Yum. Can't go wrong with this order. For some reason, the meat that Norms uses is more tender and flavorful then DENNYS i think. LOCATION: A FOOD: A PRICE: A

Went to have the St. Pattys Day special on 3/17/11 and it was great as usual soup and salad comes with the dinner along with dessert for this special all for $9.99 and there was soo much food on the plate I couldnt eat it all but it was great. Joquin was our server and he his fantastic I also noticed that it was extremely busy which is not always a surprise here but I was impressed that the Manager Ramon was not only seating peole but he was taking out food and getting drink refills anything that was needed instead of deligating duties to help others. He was leading his team by example and that is nice to see...Anyone can ask/tell people to help others out but he was actually doing it. I frequent this restaurant quite often. Norms isn't a fancy place but it is good food and good prices!!!! I will continue to come here

This is the worse experience I had here...I ordered the lumberjack and I didn't know it was pancakes or toast...yes that's my fault...but when I got my toast it was partially burnt...so I asked for pancakes instead..my waitress (Cynthia D) gave me only 2 pancakes instead of 3, which was ok...throughout my breakfast time not once did she refill my water...I had to ask for it when she gave me my bill...now to top it all off I received my bill and I was charged for the pancakes...mind you I did not eat my burnt toast...i'll still pay my bill and give Cynthia one penny for tip...also my plate was full of grease...the hash browns were partially cooked...and the bacon was purely salty...I will go to a different norms and hopefully my experience will be better...

Hmmmmmmmm. Norms! The holder of my childhood memories with my family. My dad got wind of the steak dinner meal and took us here one night so many years ago. Food's just A-OK, as my 3 stars indicate. But factor in the round the clock hours and comfort food options, and it's really the top choice for some late night munchies.

24 hour joint that you can come for breakfast any time of the day! They really do have amazing specials and my favorite is the chicken gumbo soup. I remember when they used to have the soup on special days, but whenever I come in on random days, its always part of the soup of the day!!

I've started coming here recently. I have to say, for the price I paid, the portions were more than satisfying. I always go for the $10.99 meal because it looks the best to me. I love their Gumbo soup, but I can never finish it, because I'm always saving room for my steak and shrimp! I don't like the Strawberry Shortcake so much, because the ice cream melted when they gave it to me!

I would take this place over Denny's or IHOP any day. When you're still slightly drunk from a club and hungry, you want a more substantial meal for what you're willing to pay. Luckily this place comes with a good combo: low prices and large portions. I never have any complaints about my food, but then again there's nothing to rave about. The service is on point and they're attentive to what you need. You get some interesting *drunk* characters in here, so it's always a nice experience.

This place beats Dennys hands down when it comes to value and proportion. Went there this morning with my buddy for breakfast, they have a pretty good special going on called the Sunrise Serenade (I think thats what they call it) for $3.99. Two eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, hash browns, and 2 pancakes :) definitely cheaper than the breakfast combo plate at mcd's.

The girlfriend and I were in town for a wedding, and didn't feel like spending $14 on a bowl of oatmeal at The Californian (located at the Hyatt, where we stayed), so we drove down Beach Blvd looking for something breakfast-like and "local". We stumbled upon Norm's, which essentially is Denny's rebranded. I have to say though, that I am pretty impressed with the price to food ratio. You get a shitload for pretty cheap. And the food is good! Greasy as all hell, but what do you expect from a diner-type establishment? Needless to say, it satisfied us both, and I'm glad I found it, considering the IHOP was only a few blocks back and was getting ready to settle for that. eesh.

Granted we went late and had a large group but service was super slow! Our first waiter refused to serve us & passed us off to another waiter. The second guy was much more helpful. Probably wont go back. Food was along the lines of Denny's. Meh.

This is my favorite restaurant from a long list of places in this category. My family have been dining at this location and various Norm locations in Southern California. This place is great because it is located in a nice center. The restaurant seems clean. The service is ok. The most important thing is the food. The food at Norms is always fantastic. Whenever I come here, usually with my wife and my 2 years old, we don't order the burgers or sandwiches. Those, you can get at McDonalds. We come to Norms for the real deals. We order stuff like seafood or steak plates where you get at least two side orders. What we like about Norms is that the food is plentiful and fresh, and very nicely priced. Most importantly, the food is so well prepared, I don't think I can possible make at home. This location is nice because it is facing Beach Blvd and we like sitting at the booths facing the street. We love this place and would recommend it to anybody.

Friday night: supposed to meet a friend for coffee but the place was closed. Go to Starbuck's only to discover that too was closed. Norms?? Do we dare? We did. That places makes Denny's look classy. But to my surprise, there was something comforting and soothing about that place. Our waiter greeted us with kind, eager eyes. His Boston/New York accent added to the eccentric crowd that surrounded us. Prompting us for our order, he recommended his favorite sandwich (The Club) and said that he usually substitutes fries for rice. Rice?? Interesting, indeed. I decided on a $2.50 dinner salad and my friend ordered french toast. He comes back to seconds later, would you care for some FREE dinner rolls? Why yes sir, we would!! How could we resist FREE in today's economy? Almost instantly he was back with not just one dinner roll, but 5 huge rolls with butter. I was in heaven. And, they let us sit there for hours. So yes. Norms exceeded my norms and that is why I give it 3 stars.

Norms is great for a late night meal. I'm pretty sure that everyone knows what to expect from Norms. The only reason that I decided to yelp about this particular Norms is because while eating there a couple of months ago with a couple of my friends, one of my friends ordered waffles... I'm sure it sounded like a good idea, it's pretty hard to screw up waffles, right? Wrong...! They brought out our food a few minutes later and his waffles were FRIED... And my buddy actually ate them...! To this day, I still mention his fried waffle experience and he begins to feel queezy... Who would ever think to deep-fry a waffle??? Oooof...

i came to this place and ordered a new york steak and what i meant was the breakfast one but the waitress end up giving me the dinner one and i ask to change since i want the egg instead and she said i cant so i ask how much is it for an add on and it was like 3 to 4 dollar and i know its was on my part to know if the one that put in the menu is the breakfast or dinner but since they look so alike on the dinner and breakfast so i got mistaken... i wouldnt come back since i experience it at a better place :)

As the saying has become in my family, "Norms we never close, we never clean". The few times I've been there its been dirty and not a great experience. The food is always pretty good though.

I am going to have to rate it better than the avg. I have had breakfast and dinner here both were great. I had Fettuccine Alfredo. I could not believe they included salad in the great price. They are clearly better than other restaurants of their type. My waitress was much better than waitress at far more expensive places.

I don't eat much fat-filled, sodium laden, sugary foods anymore. I am much more conscious of the nutritional value of what I eat these past few years. Heck, I even enjoy a steaming bowl of quinoa & coconut oil weekly! HOWEVER. When I want to forget about the impending doom of diabetes, cancers, and heart disease, I hit Norm's for a great big ole' stack of pancakes! I cannot eat much of anything else here, but my oh my, will I party down with the pancakes smothered in BUTTER and fake MAPLE SYRUP every few months! Maybe it's because I don't eat this crap much, but the first time I ordered the pancakes, I was in heart attack heaven! So buttery...so syrupy...so sickening after that last lovin' bite...so worth it! The steaks here are flat, the sandwiches are so-so, but if you like basic pancakes, this is your place. Plus, I like all the different, interesting folk that come here...last time I saw what I am SURE was a tranny, all decked out with big platinum wig and high heels even I would never have worn in my heyday, on a date right there at Norm's with her little old Sugar Daddy, at 1:00 pm on a Saturday. I love it! No, you cannot beat the pancakes, or the people watching opportunities that abound here...

I went here today after black friday, I do say I love their servers. They are super nice. The server asked us if we just went from shopping. We agreed, so she gave us a special discount on her specials tonight. We were so blessed. . We had 2 pancakes 2 sausage links, 2 bacon pieces, and scramble eggs for 6.50 per person. It was enough to fill us up. I reccomend this Norms to everyone. Definately coming back later ^^

I prefer this diner compared to other chains like Dennys and Cocos. Their pricing is competitive and big. My fiancé definitely preferred the pancakes here over all the rest. They always have some sort of soup ready available. Staff here has always been friendly with wonderful service.

Well.... The music was good. Cons bad ice tea Bad Pepsi Bad parmesan fries Bad onion rings Weird ranch and honey mustard for fried chicken fingers Pros Chicken fingers were hot as hell and so we couldnt taste them very much. Server was friendly... People this place is run down!! This was a horrible food experience. The restrooms were shady as F! This has left a real real bad taste in our mouths for ever going back to Norms again.

This is a GREAT diner with delicious comfort food! If you are comparing it to fine dining, don't. But, the hamburgers are great, and I had an amazing turkey burger with Swiss cheese and garlic mushrooms. One of the BEST burgers I've ever had! The onion rings were AMAZING! Good, sweet onions, great breading and just enough deep frying to cook and crisp. Delicious. The menu has hundreds of options and all-day breakfast. AND, it is AFFORDABLE! Norm's have been around SoCal for 60 years and they serve great food, the people are VERY nice and friendly, and they serve everyone in our community. So, if you are OK with everyone being able to dine in booths and tables or at the counter, and you like great comfort food at a reasonable price, then THIS is the place! LOVE NORM'S! We'll be back again for sure! Oh yeah, it's OPEN 24 Hours EVERY DAY of the Year!

Good place for a greasey spoon type breakfast. Prices are reasonable and portions are huge. The staff does a great job keeping the coffee full throught the meals. I typically hit these type of places for breakfast but am curious after looking at the lunch/dinner entrees.

Norms is my favorite American breakfast spot. The Big Better Breakfast is such a bang for your buck - pancakes, hash browns, eggs (however you like it), sausage, bacon for less than $7!! It fills me up like no other breakfast I've ever had. The servers are always very friendly but I usually have to wait a bit for my food, but I don't mind because of the price and service. I've only ever tried their 2 breakfast specials (the other one being the sirloin breakfast) and both are so delicious and satisfying!! Perhaps I'll try other items from their menu in the future. The best thing about Norms is that it is family owned and opened 24 hours.

    (5)
  • Heather L.

My favorite place for american comfort food. I've been coming here with my family for the longest time and it always fills me up because you get a HUGE amount of food for your money. All entrees come with soup and salad and the entrees are BIG. I always have to bring the leftovers home, but hey, not complaining at all! Highly recommended. Service is great and people are all around friendly at this place!

  • Justin R.

Good food and very generous portions of said food at a reasonable price? Yep, that's Norm's in a nutshell. I've been to a few different Norms in the past and have just started going to this one on occasion whenever I feel like decent diner food that won't leave me going to the bathroom right after (see my recent review for Spires). First of all, this place is usually crowded no matter what time of day it is, but there's a reason. Like I said, the prices are reasonable, the food is really good from what I've had at least and they give you good portions. If this place weren't a bit of a drive, I'd make it my go to place for good old American comfort food!

Bigger Better Breakfast. Need I say more? Okay, how about French Toast? My boyfriend and my son both ordered the BBB, I ordered the french toast. Wow, I have not seen a bigger deal on breakfast in a very long time. The BBB offered 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, hashbrowns and two very large pancakes. For $5.99?? My son ate well. BF didn't do so bad either :) I took a bite out of the sausage and I have to say, it was delicious. Very juicy with that little crisp bite. Love it. And the pancakes (took a bite out of that too) was really very good. Fluffy and it didn't have that weird aftertaste that I find in other restaurants. I'm thinking too much yeast in those other places? Not sure. All I know is I'd come back for the pancakes! But this time, I had the French toast and it was so well very well prepared. 3 large slices of toast. The egg wash was seasoned perfectly. Cooked to give it that crisp egg texture, a slight sweetness with a ligh salt finish. I didn't even use the maple syrup! I'm definitely coming back. And Julio our server, was Fantastic!!!

We have been to this Norm's many times over the past years and continue to come back as it has usually been fairly good, to good, to better than just good. I just used "better than just good" because I couldn't really say that it was very good nor really good, because that would be an exaggeration. My review today is more based on an overall experience of many visits, rather than just one visit. I don't really think that it is fair to judge a restaurant based on just one visit, unless it is really terrible that you know for sure that you will never come back ever again. Obviously since I have been back numerous times that it is good enough to come back and have a decent meal especially when you may be on a budget. You will get a bargain on a steak-and-egg breakfast (including pancakes) during the weekdays and their dinner deals like steak-and-shrimp which includes soup, salad and a dessert. Also with dinner, usually their baked potatoes are good but their vegetables are either canned or frozen and pretty soggy which I could pass on. Other than the food, some of the cons is that service is fair to ok to good, but is hardly ever very good. There was a time when a blond waitress forgot our bread, the soup was lumpy and cold, and totally forgot that the pork chops come with a side dish. Based on that one visit, I would give Norms a one-star review, but would that be fair to Norms; I think not. Just one server does not make or break an entire restaurant establishment. Lastly, one other thing I wanted to comment on is that the servers need to understand that their customers do not want to hear them throwing their dirty dishes into their bus tubs because when they do they continually give off a loud banging sound which I don't want to hear while I'm eating. I'm giving them a 4-star rating but it really is a 3.5-star rating which I think is fair and based on several visits.

I love norms!!!!!!! Perfect place for any meal of the day especially late at night. Our waitress was the sweetest, she was so helpful and generous. I didn't get her name though but she was the most adorable lady. A serving of french toast is humongous and it was so warm and buttery. The baby back ribs were so tender and well seasoned and so cheap!! The club sandwich with the turkey and avocado was amazing. They also have really good clam chowder on Fridays, I believe. Love love love this place

Been here twice last week, as I had a post in Huntington Beach (I'm a rover, so I'm all over ::smirk::). First time had the steak and egg breakfast. Nothing special, but was disappointed that the biscuits and gravy were served on a salad plate (yes, a glass plate) and the gravy was really runny. Second time I tried that "double loaded hash brown" item. I also opted for a side of their sausage patty. Double loaded, ah no. The menu says that it's a double portion of hash browns, with bacon, chesse and tomato. I think they just wanted the hashbrown, eggs and sausage to fit on one plate, but the biscuit and gravy that day was much better (and even on proper plating!). Check out was funny the second trip; their debit reader wasn't working, so the gal had to lug out the old school machine from the 70s...carbon copy and all that. She also didn't have a pen, but I had one since I a prepared security professional. One of those places for cheap eats in cheap seats, but I swear that place still has air from the 70s.

This is not your average Denny's! This is my first time here, and now I think to my self why I spent so much money going to Denny's all these years. I got the serlion and eggs. for only 9 bucks you can't go wrong. My steak was cooked to perfection. Medium on the inside and nicely cooked on the out. took a while to pay since the host was the cashier. that was the only down side.

This place is horrible! After driving all night from Vegas, my friend suggested that we stop there for breakfast. Despite my reservations about this place, I agreed to have what I can always call as the worst breakfast of my life. Everything was either overcooked or undercooked. To corroborate my statements, I have attached a photo of the "crispy" hash browns that my friend ordered. P.S.: Unfortunately, my friend decided to make me pay for this disgusting meal that I only agreed to because he had asked. And that's all even after the free Starbucks that I got him as a goodwill gesture for his terrible advice.

Who doesn't love Norms? I would choose Norms over Denny's on any day! They always have those great Stegg dinners that are great for middle of the night/early morning appetite pleasers. The restaurant is nice and clean, the only thing I would say is the area around it. There was a bum camped right outside the entrance and after dinner, a hoochie-fied mama asking for directions to have her "friend" pick her up.

    (3)
  • Mj V.

Omg this Norm's sucked... My boyfriend and I walked in and their was about 4 people at the front counter and none of them greeted us or anything... So we just started walking assuming it was seat yourselves. I said loudly "is it seat yourself?" And the she looks up "go ahead" very rudely. Then after we ordered my pork chop that I ordered was dryer than a popcorn fart. My boyfriend's Belgian waffle that was "cooked to order" was harder than a rock. That's what we get for going to Norm's. Most people probably go super drunk so they don't realize the horrible service and horrible food.

Figured we would try this place out for the first time. Mistake. Steak as eggs breakfast was horrible. The steak tasted like a grill that had never been cleaned. I couldn't taste the meat at all over the burned grill taste. I'll never go back.

Good breakfast food. If you don't eat unhealthy very often, be prepared to feel ill afterwards though. Dinner food is awful! Pick somewhere else to eat for dinner! Not even worth the inexpensive prices. It's just a waste of money. Mediocre service. My overall review is a "Meh..."

I have been to this Norm's before without problems. Sad to write this review, but... Today, THIS Norm's get's my wrath. Sorry folks, but the experience today was SUBSTANDARD from the beginning. I walked in looking for a club sandwich. Asked to be seated and got a panic'd look from the hostess as if they were completely full. I looked around, saw open tables, but said "How about the bar over there". I was able to sit at the bar area right in front of the kitchen so I had eyes on the food area where food is placed. In the business we call that the WINDOW and there's a hot and cold side so that hot food stays hot and cold stays cool. What happened next was just weird. I sat for 10 minutes without even being noticed by the Manager who should have been expediting, but instead went down by the register and stood there talking with someone, cracking jokes and laughing while there was food dying in the window. In the business dying means that the food is sitting in the window to the point that you have to toss it out. Finally after she'd walked past me 3 times and not even acknowledged me, I said outloud "Pardon me, but does anyone work this station?" Her response was an abrupt "Yes, someone does, she's right here" and pointed out a waitress that had been in the back of the house, when just as easily this Manager could have stopped, and asked if I wanted a drink or something. Not very custom centric at all. The waitress took my order and in a short amount of time I had the club sandwich I had been craving for a while. Then...I saw what I'd feared. The manager came back, looked at the window and started grabbing plates of food and tossing them into the trash. She must have tossed at least $50.00 worth of food, maybe more than that and didn't say a word to any of the wait staff for leaving their food in the window. Additionally there was a sandwich that sat in the window the entire 30 mins that I was there having my meal. REALLY BAD service this day and a very wasteful manager on duty in the 1-3:30 timeframe today Sunday the 29th of September 2013. If I was the district manager of Norm's, I would go in and put this gal on notice that she got a 1 star review from someone that really pays attention to her methods of not running the restaurant. She should be expediting that food out or they should have an expediter, and the kitchen should learn to push out a medium strip steak, not be joking around and allow it to turn into a well-done but sent it out as medium requiring an additional one to be cooked. If this Norm's is losing money, it's because the kitchen staff should be replaced and the manager should be replaced and the wait staff should maintain their uniforms correctly and not wear pants that hang down around their ankles and this is a couple of the girls there. Not COOL. Michael Murdock, a former customer

Service is good, but the food is always mediocre. It's not just this location, but more b/c of Norms standards. The only times I've been here has been out of courtesy due to a group gathering. But it's not a place I ever miss really :/

  • Annie V.

I've been here so many times because I keep coming back, everything's really good and really reasonably priced. + Bigger Better Breakfast is always a really cheap, super filling option + The Mushroom Fettuccine Alfredo is a must, in my opinion + The Burgers are actually enormous and really cheap for the huge amount you get + The Steak/ Chicken tenders are good + I forgot what it's called exactly, I believed scrambled hashbrowns? Basically its sausage, eggs, tomatoes, onions, veggies, bacon and more scrambled into your hashbrown, one of my favs. One star off because the tables can get a little sticky and dirty, as well as the sauce bottles, etc. Service is usually good.

  • Christopher L.

Came here hungry last night with a few friends. Food was decent but the service was horrendous. It took 10 minutes just for us to get seated when there were clearly tables open. Seems like they just couldn't handle more orders at that point. When we finally did get seated, our server took forever just to ask if we wanted any refreshments. Overall, it was just a lot of waiting which was a huge turn off. Won't be coming back.

This place left a lasting impression on me a few years back when i went with my brother. I vowed never to return because the overall experience before we even ate was so bad that we left without ordering. Ironic that the reason i came back was because my bro asked if i wanted to eat breakfast here. Why not, right? talk about a 180, the service was good, the meal was what to be expected for what it was and overall a pleasant experience. I even came back last Sunday with better company (sorry rick) for a late breakfast. keep up the good work!

Went with a friend just after midnight 09/07/2014 to grab a late night snack. I ordered the bacon cheese burger with fries, and my friend the lemon pepper chicken with mashed potatoes, clam chowder soup and salad. The soup was fine and the salad was fine but the problem came with the entrees. They brung her out fries and she said she requested mashed potatoes at first the server argued until he pulled out what he wrote down then went to the back and how convenient they were out of mashed potatoes... No big deal just would of been nice if he's of been honest. The next problem I noticed my friend spit out her chicken and look at it then proceeds to ask me to taste it and sure enough it had a horrible texture that you only know if you've bitten into way undercooked chicken.. She told the server and he said sorry and had them put the same chicken that had two bites out of it by two people on the grill again (don't think that's even legal or sanitary) so my friend says don't worry about it I don't want anything to eat just cancel that order. While all this was happening I was trying to enjoy my bacon burger which was okay definitely nothing special and not cooked the way I requested. The fries were not good and the environment/atmosphere was not pleasant. I would not recommend norms this was my first and last time going here.

This is my number one spot for everything: hang out, date, family meeting. I come here once a month. Love this place so much. The price is reasonable with tasteful food and friendly service. Can't ask for more right? They do have their bad days... But it is still my favorite place of all times:)

This place is amazing. It needs 5 stars ASAP. I'm not one to eat pasta that ain't home cooked or from a well known pasta restaurant. This Norms is so good I was inclined towards ordering the grilled chicken & mushroom Alfredo pasta and it was no disappointment. Everyone here is nice. I've been here at different hours of the day and the friendliness is consistent. The food quality is awesome too, compared to other Norms. Every employee here doesn't mind sharing a smile. Best Norms!!!

I usually come here when we want a relatively cheap American meal that comes with a lot of food However the service here is always a hit or miss. Sometimes service is okay and nothing went terribly wrong or it's just plain bad. I've never really had GREAT service .... We came last night and it was incredibly busy so I felt a little bad for the staff but that shouldn't excuse for the bad service. My be and I shared an entree and I got my salad 10 minutes before he got his soup. When he finally got it it was cold in the middle and the bowl was hot. It was clearly microwaved. When we got our steak out I was confused with what kind of steak we got because it didn't look like a filet mignon. It was. Flat and large like a pork chop. I thought filet mignon was supposed to be really thick and smaller circle shape. What did we pay for and wtf are we eating. The waiter assured us it was a filet but I doubt it. They also gave us a cup and of hot chocolate what had a huge crack going down the side of it. One, it's super tacky that they're still trying to use it and serve it to their customers. Just throw it away. How cheap can you get. Two, what happens when the cup decides to give in and crack open and spill hot coffee on someone. I bet they wouldn't do anything but say sorry. I never really expect much from Norms cause they're a diner and it's cheap. But damn. Sometimes they amaze me with their crappy service. I feel gross sometimes when we eat there. Like their plates and bowls are not cleaned properly.

You get what you pay for at Norm. It has been awhile visiting the place. Steak is getting smaller but still an affordable steak place for $10.99 and $8.99 for steak dinner and breakfast with $4.99 onion ring. The steak is so thin that with blow of wind it can fly away. It is very salty. However, onion ring is excellent and crispy. Service person does stop and ask how everything is doing. Cannot complaint based on the price.

I haven't been to this Norms in around 15 years, glad to see it's still there. I needed a late night meal, and diners are always great for that. I got their standard sirloin steak and eggs which was exactly what I expected. I ordered medium rare and it was cooked just fine. No complaints, consistent will all other Norms I've been to.

I'm not going into Norms and expecting a five star experience but this location was slow and the area was a little uncomfortable. How can I eat pancakes at 2am knowing my car is sharing a parking lot with a bikini bar? But if you're hungry for diner bites at any hour around the clock then this could be your best bet in the area. Don't get what I got, which were the buffalo chicken tenders; way too breaded for my taste. At least get some kind of a balanced meal so your stomach doesn't hate you the morning after.

M-eh - forgot to write this review as it happened awhile ago went with colleague and grilled chicken was not cooked well - had tasted funny so he didnt eat anymore - no big deal - was going to pay and check out and told manager.... manager cut the chicken and took a bite and said was okay but still deducted for it...... appreciate it but would have preferred not have witnessed that honestly... cannot believe I forgot about this..... been awhile now....

Michael B. The manager was our server. A very rude person, hope nobody has to deal with this guy. Rolls his eyes and talks under his breathe. Never coming to this location again. If I could put no stars on this review I would. He needs to be dealt with.

Love Norm's prices, love the crispy pancakes and breakfast. I have been to many Norms across Southern California and they all have a very similar ambience. I believe Norms is a true old-school dining experience.

I like to come here on weekday mornings to order the steak and eggs which is $8.50/plate before 9:00am. You get the steak and eggs, hash brown, and pancakes/toast. I usually order medium rare but they sometimes burn the bottom of my steak so it tastes kinda bitter. But overall, not bad for the price.

Always busy on weekends. Food is fairly priced & portioned appropriately. Staff is friendly but food takes a while to be delivered & not freshly hot as it should be. Pancakes are delicious. Bathrooms (only 2 stalls) are old, toilets are low to ground, not very clean/tidy & usually a line to wait in.

Great food, big portions and the service was great. I will definitely go back here to eat the food it was delicious.

They really NEVER close! I went on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years lol not on purpose. Anyway, the food is good. For about $12 you get soup, salad and your entree. Not bad! Try the T-Bone steak medium rare. It's like buttery soft!

Open 24 hrs! We wanted to try something new rather than the usual steak/eggs/breakfast here. So we decided to order the Chef's Sampler Plate and Gravy and Biscuits. Sergio was our server. It was very difficult to understand what he was saying because of his accent and because he was speaking so fast! The whole time he was serving us, I felt very rushed. While ordering, he was standing there and making me nervous...Also we waited for 20 minutes for our food to come out. We actually saw our food put out under the heat lamp or whatever, but not brought to our table for awhile. Chef's Sampler Plate had almost all appetizers on it. It had mozzeralla cheese sticks, onion rings, fried shrimp, chicken tenders, and it comes with ranch, ketchup, and honey mustard. It was soOooO much food for two people, but it was so good. It is under the "Appetizer" part of the menu... I feel like this should be an entree because of it's size. Probably an appetizer for a bigger party though. I have never had Gravy and Biscuits and my boyfriend was really pushing me to try it, so I gave in and did. I'm not a big fan on gravy, but this was pretty darn good! Delicious food. Good portions. Long wait for food. Next time when the food gets put out by the chef, please bring it to the customers right away and not just let it sit there for over 5 minutes....

Found a piece of hair scrambled in my veggie dish and it was completely disgusting and i lost my appetite. Asked for my food to be cooked again and all they cooked again was the veggies while the tilapia and rice was cold. Never again

Service here is alright.. They get pretty busy so you have to wait a while to get your order.. If you come here i believe 4am-9am they have a steak deal which is off the hook! $9 for steak, eggs, hash browns, salad, and i think soup too!!! so so good. you can get either salad, soup, or toast... IF you get toast replace it for FRENCH TOAST!! it's so good and tastes better with your steal of a deal :) they have good desserts and a variety!! the root beer float is awesome.. i believe they have orange float too.. sometimes the utensils are dirty so you have to ask for another...!

Dirty glasses always, this time I had the privilege of tasting the hooker red lipstick of what I assume was a 38 year old meth addict prostitute that looks like a zombie Juliette Lewis, whom was probably getting finger blasted under the table, as her and her gentleman caller were discussing rates for him to ravage her in his car. But hey its okay because when I brought it to the attention of the waitress she did-NOTHING. Will not be back ever, unless I've become so intoxicated I stop caring about the cold sore I will contract the next day.

Always good service, food is good and I like there specials. Their steaks are always very good. Love Norms. Definitely better than Denny's which has good downhill since the 80s in my opinion. Norm's reminds me of how Denny's used to be way back when. Parking can be crowded. I also recommend other Norms. There is one in Whittier, Anaheim, Orange, and one I think in Downey. There are two in Torrance/Hawthorne area and possibly more. I think the one in the valley closed down due to gentrification and is currently undergoing historic building status/battle with the residences and developers? Norms is also open 24hrs and they take cc. Some have undergone remodels too.

Norm's has great service most of the time, and has a great selection of food on their menu. The parking here isn't too bad either, especially on a weekday. I love coming to Norm's for their "Melting Pot" omelette. It's big and comes with hash browns and two slices of buttered toast. My boyfriend really likes the Portabello mushroom omelette & the steak here. They also have the best pancakes I've ever had here -- it's much better than the pancakes at IHOP! However, I docked off one star because their prices have risen quite a lot ever since I was little, when I used to come here weekly with my family.

How is this place still in business? In my opinion there couldn't be a more disgusting restaurant. If you thought Denny's had a bad reputation you haven't visited his unemployed, redneck cousin Norm. Here's the situation, all of the food is kept under heat lamps for the majority of the day until it is plopped out onto dirty plates and thrown before unsuspecting elderly patrons. The stench fuming from the kitchen could tranquilize a large animal. Once this place is finally bulldozed, it will take salt and fire to properly cleanse the earth upon which this monstrosity has festered it's oozing spores of acid.

This place really really reminds me of Denny's. It has that whole diner feels which is okay I guess. This is the kind of place that I would go to late at night. Nothing fancy and I don't expect fancy from a place like this. I just expect them to have good food and good service. They have both and I like that.

Dude norms is cheep greasy spoon to begin with, much less at night the drunks and tweekers wander in, but the management is a joke now too!?! The bald Hispanic manager refused to call the police on a man that tried to open my wife's car door while I was on my way there to meet her after working a late night, he was pi$$ drunk called her a b@$ch because she told him to leave her alone while he was trying to hit on her while stumbling out of the place drunk... The manager said he's my cousin and I won't call the cops on him!?! Seriously!?! We just went there because it was a slight step up from Denny's for a quick cheep meal after a late night or a movie... Now we will never go back... Bigger better bulls$&t

I always was against this place because just the thought of them NEVER closing, really grossed me out. I had the thought that the food was just nasty and everything was just warmed up food. My co worker and I, after work, got hungry and it was already late at night and couldn't think of anything that was open besides this place. So we just sucked it up and went ahead and ate there. Me just like anyone else like having nice, friendly, service. The guy that was serving us didn't quiet meet that. He was an older man, and seemed kind of tired. We both ordered hamburgers, and I highly recommend any kind of burger from here because they are worth your money. Definitely would come here over islands, if i wanted a good tasting burger for less. I would NOT recommend their French toast. It's just gross. Some reason covered in grease. Discussing. Anyways, went there recently. Had him twice as a server there. Super amazing, and really kind. I honestly think he's the only one that kept a smile the whole time he was taking my order. If you do eat here, I do suggest that you should be served by Billy. Great guy!

Bigger, better breakfast...YUM! I met my brother here this morning and our server was the best!! Her name was Tammy and I adored her. She has been waitressing she said for 40 years and she is good. So friendly and outgoing, what a doll. We both ordered off their healthy menu choice. I had the egg whites with turkey bacon, my brother had the turkey sausage and we had fruit. They also offered toast with the meal as well. His rye toast looked really good.Very filing yet light and the food was fast and really good. I was expecting a greasy heavy breakfast that would sit on my stomach but no way! This is a great place surprisingly and am delighted I came here. Yes even with so many great healthy choices locally I would come back here for sure!

Norms moved the Handicap Parking from the front of the building close to the door, to BEHIND the building and across the lot. This move is very dangerous for the slow moving elderly. I talk to the manager, he said it was a Corporate decision. I called the main office and was directed to Mr. O'Connell & One other person. They don't care enough to call back. This change is an accident waiting to happen. The Handicap have to cross the parking lot step up on a curb and walk the length of the building. At night this is so dangerous. You don't care about the safety of your customers to make such a dangerous change. We won't be back until the parking is made safe again.

I really like the pancakes here however the last time I ordered a take-out the pancakes looked like it were almost burned so I won't give a full score for this restaurant. I have nothing to complain about the service. It's just the food sometimes did not impress me that much (except their pancakes), the steak is too chewy, Denny's has better steak than Norm's to be honest. The only thing that keeps me going back to this restaurant is their pancakes and the price.

A classic. Used to come here after high school football games, basketball, baseball... whatever. Could count on it then for a decent meal at a reasonable price and can still count on it! Not the "Biltmore" in terms of ambiance, but what do you expect for a 24 hour diner? LOVE this place!!

Ambiance : think old fashioned diner Denniesk, but bigger. It's a good late night place for the best meal of the day : breakfast ! Food : average. It's not better or worse than Denny's. They have an American sized menu: LARGE. Service : again, like Denny's. It's alright. They're generally on point just less experienced in general and less professional. Recommendation : I was craving biscuits and gravy and was pretty stoked for it despite it being your average dinner. Disappointed. It was a tiny place with one biscuit... Really ?? It was good though.

The other night my lady and I decided to dine at norms for a late night dinner. As we walked in, there were three female employees with their back turned to us. I saw no host, no "wait to be seated" sign, nobody greeted us, and there were plenty of empty tables. So i asked the employee on the right if it is self seating or if we have to wait to be seated. As the employee opens her mouth to respond, the employee in the middle, Virginia, rudely cuts in (mind you i wasnt even asking her) and says condescendingly, "umm you have to wait to be seated" and turned back around without even checking to see where the host was. Now at first I was a bit taken back. I even had to ask my lady "was it just me or was that employee rude to us just now?" and my lady agreed. I initially brushed it off as "she's just having a bad day". Shortly after we were seated, another customer walked in and Virginia greeted this man with a completely different demeanor. Her voice was so sweet with this man i couldnt believe it was the same person (Virginia) who rudely told us we had to wait to be seated, and then proceeded to ignore us. She even got him seated immediately and began to take his order. She was so pleasant with him and so nice, i almost lost my appetite seeing her act so fake. When she wasnt busy, I asked her for her name and throughout the rest of the dining experience she kept throwing us nasty looks. Someone like this should NOT be in a position that deals with customer service. Juaquin our server, however, was legit. He was very prompt, checked up on us frequently and brought refills when we needed them but hadnt asked for them yet.

Review is really 2 stars, but since it was twice as good as Denny's and IHOP I doubled the stars. Burgers are hand pressed, bacon And eggs solid and breakfast handmade sausage patty with biscuits and gravy amazing!! This is not gourmet, but maintains the American dinner tradition that still try's to do homemade quality food at a reasonable price. so if your thinking Denny's IHOP or cocos, come here. If you thinking gourmet go to Ritz Carleton Laguna Niguel.

You're never going to have a fine dining experience at Norm's but what you do get is consistency, a warm welcome and a pleasant atmosphere. Even at 4am. The steak and eggs and French toast are both great offerings, inexpensive and always hit the spot. The bigger, better breakfast is a great deal, too. Sub in French Toast when you're feeling slightly indulgent.

The 4 am deal is so worth it. They give you a pretty damn good portion that will fill you up and the food is good. Wayyyy better then Denny's. The food isn't as oily, they don't try to rip you off. My 4 am to go spot for food now hehe I prefer toast over pancakes. Tip: If you do come here late, park your car where you can see it.. Better to be safe then sorry.

Every time I dine here, there's always great services from this Asian guy. But when it comes to the food, I'm not a big fan. Their steak aren't great at all. I've tried different type of steaks but they all are dissatisfying. The service and their hours is what brings me back here all the time.

Came here for my first month wedding anniversary... because it's always open and its about 11pm. Good place for a date. The staff is always friendly and professional. We got our appetizer within minutes of being seated. The main course followed shortly after. There chicken Cesar salad can feed 2 people. For the money savers out there. My husband tried there orange peel wings. They were boneless and tasted sweet with a hit of spiceyness. Great place!!

We have not been to Norms basically since they stopped having their 1/2 rotisserie chicken years ago. We see that it is back now but not $3.50 for lunch. Now it's $9.00 (!!!) Hubby wanted to go back again to try their sirloin steak & egg special. When we used to go it was more of a place for oldies like we have become now. The prices were reasonable and there was something that we could order. This time Norms seemed more like a "Grand Central Station" in South America. The air actually smelled bad when we walked in and by the time we reached our table I had lost my appetite and I never found it again. Years ago the sirloin steak, hash browns, and eggs were great at $3.99. This time hubby complained that the steak (medium rare) was more tough than chuck steak. It seemed rather gummy to me. One of my first pieces seemed lodged in my throat as I began to cough. Then it bounced back up! The hash browns were too oily and the eggs (over easy) pretty flavorless. Instead of pancakes we substituted sour dough toast. We were given only one tiny tub of jelly each which did on even cover a whole piece of toast. So we asked for more and received it. The service was pretty good but this does not mean much when the food is sub par and over priced. Hubby did not even eat his hash browns and eggs. (No, hubby does not want to visit Norms again.)

The waitresses is very friendly. Decent place. The place is kinda dark. I don't feel the vibe. The appetizers didn't take very long to come out. Table was clean, but the booth was dirty. The new Mango green tea was delicious. This place is alright. I wouldn't mind coming back.

It is sometimes difficult to find places where I can take advantage of my breakfast obsession given my odd hours. I've driven by several Norms since I relocated to California but never tried them until a few weeks ago. Sort of reminded me of Perkins, which has decent-ish food, so finally decided to give Norms a try early one morning when nothing else was around to sate my appetite. I dine solo most of the time so initially intended to save a booth & a server by sitting at the counter. That lasted all of 2 minutes. The countertop is at an odd height and the seats were more uncomfortable than those hard plastic chairs they force you to sit in during elementary school. Save your bum. Sit at a booth/table. My server was pleasant and possessed just the right level of attentiveness. I ordered pancakes, bacon, & eggs. The pancakes were fair enough, despite being room temperature at best. I'm still not quite sure how they managed this feat given that my food was delivered pretty darned quickly after I ordered it. The bacon and eggs were not so fortunate. I briefly contemplated skipping them after a few bites. But ... hungry ... And bacon ... And eggs ... And I picked up this horrible habit as a child where I have a difficult time letting food go to waste. So I ate every bite. Norms certainly delivers on a decent amount of food for relatively inexpensive fare--possibly the cheapest breakfast I've accomplished ever. But there are better breakfast joints out there. Unless it's at the witching hour or something. And then I'd recommend your kitchen.
